Time to get wet this Songkran Festival
Greetings and Good Morning dear hivers. As you know April is one of the biggest and Hit's festival from Thailand. Whether is S2O or Water Music festival which held on this month aka Songkran festival (New Year Thai). As for today allow me to bring you to outside of Bangkok let's see how they celebrate this year.
Tree with flowers that will bloom around this time. Which makes it a perfect or bonus with this year Songkran.
As evening starts, the kids gather outside their home for water splashing. Which anything you can use. They even add ice with the water for maximum the fun.
Meanwhile from the village I stay, water wont be missed out as well. So I'll avoid riding on a bike this time. In order not to get cook with iced cold water.
When the night comes, is time for party. Which locals will ride on a pickup and party beside the road. Of course with water splashing as well.
Towards the main outdoor concert. Free admission. Free party but alcohol and food is not free. Where everyone gets wet and coated with powder here.
Not to mentioned about the police officer as well. Managing the traffic and ensure safety at the same time got powder blessing from the locals as well. Well done and Thank you for the officer who are doing a good job there.
After the party ends around 11pm, the convenient store is packed with customer. Which all were wet as well. Well for myself I do get wet from the party. Sudden cold and warm water makes it a hype or to yell from splashing.
So what's your experience during this time? Mind share with us? Lastly I would like to wish all Hivers Happy Songkran Festival from Thailand. Take care and see you around soon.
As someone that lived in Thailand for over a decade I ahve a lot of memories with this holiday. I enjoyed it when I lived down in the south in Krabi, where the lack of population kind of dictates that the water war only goes on for one day but when I moved to Chiang Mai later, they do it for a full week there. This gets very annoying after a while because at some point I have to return to my real life and don't want to be soaking wet all the time. There is a real lack of courtesy with a lot of these people who are near the side of the road ambushing people that don't even want to take part in it. One time I was traveling down the road on my motorbike and had a computer in my bag, told the women I saw there that I had a computer in my bag as I approached and they still threw water at me. This was 3 days after the official celebration day. That made me very angry and in the future I decided to just stay home during that week.
I think that Songkran is fun sure, but the people that are dragging it out for many days are taking it too far.
Hi sir. Yes you're right. Dragging it to a week is too much and miss out the point of it. Going out with bike surely get splashed no matter what. But with normal water still ok. Now they used iced water in order to hype up the fun. Man that's worse.
We have the same festival, we call it water festival where everyone in streets have a pail of water or a water gone to spray to ofher people. That kind of festival is very fun
Eh is it. Good to know that. Thank you for telling us.
Welcome try to visit Philippines too, its very fun here
I will. Is it recommend to come around this month April? or other months?
I like that tree with yellow flowers. It gives cool vibe to the place. If someone wants to join the fun, one should be ready with her/his attire making sure that electronic gadgets are placed inside a waterproof envelope or bag. I don't mind getting splashed with water as long as it is not done deliberately and forcefully.
Yeah you're right. Mostly they're ready to get wet with this. Some even wear a raincoat during this time.
