Teachers Day Month Celebration

I am forever grateful to God for giving me a chance to become a teacher though I was a sickly child. My father carried me in his back so I could start my grade kindergarten and elementary grade. Then they decided to send me in Davao to stay with my sister who was already married that time. They were living in the city so I could go to school riding trisikad or tricycle. Whereas, in Bohol, we were living in the mountain and no sourced of transportation. We just needed our foot going to school in which I couldn't do because I had asthma. That's the reason, my father carried me and picked me up everyday. The problem when I supposed to enroll in grade five, the school was so far from home. So, because of my health I continued my schooling in Davao.

I was a sickly child but I knew how to work and helped taking care my nephew. I washed clothes and cooked. I graduated and luckily I passed my board exam at once. Then, God planned this place to me. A very good typical cold place in the mountainous part of Davao. One thing I love this place, because of the people. It's so nice achievement when you are educating indigenous people.

We were three teachers who sacrificed teaching in a makeshift room from the start and all our students were over ages. They were supposed to be in college but they were still in high school. Elementary pupils were already teenagers. But since that day we got assigned here, we changed the mindset of the people, both parents and children.

My first driver in my motorcycle was my student in first year. He graduated here and I sent him study in college in the city and lived in our house. He became a teacher now, the first indigent fruit in this school. He was one
of the students who built the makeship room. He is the eldest among many children of his parents and three of his younger siblings became my working student too until now.

As we celebrate the teacher's month, I am glad sharing this story how I became a teacher and my first student here became a teacher too.

We have school program with the students and made our school very colorful. As if, we live in the city. This is far from the time I started teaching here. The rooms built sponsored by GMA Davao.

Rainy days are just started so the weather is so cold freezing us. No need refrigerator or aircon even in summer here.

He is my latest driver, my working student. I provided him driver license to drive me home and help me in my daily routine. He is the brother of my first driver who became a teacher.

These are my students during their free time. They loved being photographed with my driver and I just want to share with you the beautiful place God intended to me and my students. Some teachers stay here but after few years, they preferred transferring to another school because, it is located in the mountain. But me, I will stay as I promised. I give back to the Lord God for giving me this life to the indigenous people.
