Garden Journal, January and total vacation.
What we started in December with pots and additional light didn't end well. The plants just sprouted a lot and eventually started to dry out. I guess the light wasn't right for them. The wife only put in one bulb. And it was too far from any windows to get at least a little sunlight.
In the end, we poured the soil out of the pots and made room. In the meantime, ours was covered in snow.

First a little snow fell, a few centimeters. Then another ten or so were added during the night, and so on for the next few days.

This snow is good for wheat, winter spinach, winter lettuce. And all kinds that can survive minus. The snow cover protects plants from frost and freezing.
And of course snow and winter are good for killing germs and parasites and cleaning up a bit of pests.
Since we haven't planted anything in the garden and haven't built a greenhouse. We're enjoying the snow and the vacation.
Evergreen trees tolerate cold well, and the fruit is in a dormant phase, so minus 12 degrees doesn't bother them much.

Overnight, the snow regularly added a new layer.
The only obligation was to be on duty and clear the exit from the yard so that I could drive through.

Just as the snow was falling, my son and I made a snowman
Well, it started to melt a little that day, which affected our snowman.
But when night fell, it froze again.
So our snowman now looks a little fat :)

Our days are spent playing in the snow, sledding, and snowshoeing.
And of course I check the fruit to make sure it hasn't been damaged by frost and inspect the raspberries, blackberries, and figs that we covered with balloons to make sure everything is in order.
This may have disrupted the greenhouse plans a bit.
But we're waiting for better weather and everything will be done in time.
Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.
