Waiting for the durian harvest

avatar

Hi Hive Lovers

Durian trees are a type of perennial that bear seasonal fruit, meaning they can only be harvested once a year. The harvest period is the time that those who have durian gardens have been waiting for.

Some people may not like the durian fruit, which has a distinctive pungent odor with soft flesh and prickly skin, but believe me, durian is a fruit that has a very delicious taste, if you understand.

Now is the time for the durian harvest. Weekends like this are the perfect day to hit the durian farm and check out a few things to do in preparation for the harvest.

I'm in my durian garden, not too big but more than enough to give happiness to my family and neighbors. I always share the best durian fruit from every harvest from my durian garden.

Some of my durian garden trees bear fruit well, though not as much as last year. This year's long drought has caused the durian flowering season in our area to not go well; many durian flowers and buds have fallen off due to a lack of water.

On some of the branches, there are lots of durians hanging, and they are already big and waiting to fall because the fruit looks like it is starting to ripen. On other parts of the branches, there are still fruits that have just begun to grow, but on other parts of the branches, there are also those that have started to produce flowers and pistils.

Here are some of my durians that are big and waiting to fall to be harvested:

Here are some of the durian buds, and they still need time to grow big:

And here are some durian flowers that are still undeveloped; hopefully they can survive and become big fruit to be harvested too:

Ripe durian fruit is characterized by the thorns on the fruit skin, which are getting bigger, a bit blunter, and getting rarer. The easiest way to mark ripe durian fruit is by the presence of a distinctive, pungent durian fragrance. But to get a delicious durian, you have to wait for it to fall from the branch itself—durian that is not picked and not ripened.

The durian harvest season this time has not coincided with fruiting and harvesting due to the influence of yesterday's long dry season. There are even some other trees that don't bear any fruit at all. This condition is also experienced by almost everyone who has a durian garden in my area.

These new shoots of durian leaves and large fruit are a sign that the durian trees here are still healthy and growing well.

Not all the branches from my durian tree bear fruit; there are only a few branches that have durian fruit hanging, and in a few days some fruit will fall to be enjoyed.

What I need to do for now is wait for some of my durians to fall. I had to start clearing the undergrowth around the trees to make it easier to pick them up when they fell.

What do you think about the durian fruit?
Do you like durian fruit, and have you ever tasted its delicious taste?

Thank you for your kind words, Mrs @erikah.
At my place, durian is a fruit that has an expensive price, but it's really very delicious.
I hope that you can actually taste it someday.
Have a nice day.
