Finished! #2 - June 25, 2026@goldenoakfarm

On Thursday morning I intended to get out to the Small garden around 6AM and get started so we could finish it. But I had to open the house up, get the kitchen cleaned up, start laundry, repair the garden shed door hinge that was coming off, and get a shopping order in.

So when my #2 intern arrived around 8PM, I took her and my general helper out and got them started mulching and planting. This time we were planting the poor broccoli, marigolds, celery, nasturtiums, peppers, Swiss chard, and melons.

We had spurts of rain off and on but just put away the tools, etc we weren’t going to use and kept working.

I had worked up a list for the veterans group and they had sent me Polyface Farms requirements for interns, etc. So I was reading off the Polyface Farms list when my general helper got this one.

She also got this collage as my #2 intern and I were putting in more posts for peppers.

I ran out of gas about 10AM even though it wasn’t too humid or hot. So they ended up finishing the planting and mulching. We were all delighted we got it done right at 12PM.

We got cleaned up, I got my notes and photos and set up the sprinkler and they left to do other activities. I got a shower and lunch and sat down to rest until my #4 helper arrived at 1:30PM.

She ran the vacuum around the first floor and then went shopping. When she got back, she did some cleaning until she had to go about 5:45PM. I had fallen asleep on the couch reading. I did get all the laundry washed and dried though.

As a result of the late nap, in the quiet house with everyone gone, I stayed up late watching TikTok videos. I was still up when my son came home from work. I got up and closed the house up because it was to rain all night and went to bed about 10:45PM.

On Friday neither my general helper nor my #2 intern will be here. It’s supposed to rain well into the morning. I plan to get caught up on posts, finish the laundry, clean up the kitchen and read until my #3 helper arrives at 12:30PM.

We have to water the house plants, sort out the dead seedlings from what’s dead from what’s still alive then sort them into herbs, flowers, and vegetables. There will also be a tray for extras of things planted. That ought to keep us busy for a n hour or 2. She had errands to do too.

The rain is supposed end mid morning and it will get a little warmer than earlier this week, but I hope not too bad.
