Garden Update - Day 51

Hello Everyone,

Things have been coming along really good with the garden. There's no issues that I can see and everything looks like it's thriving.

Let's jump right in.

There's a few squash starting and they are looking pretty healthy!

IMG_20240615_182217416.jpg

This pretty green pepper has been growing slowly but it maintains good health and looks really good.

IMG_20240615_182250093.jpg

The eggplant are starting to flower too.

IMG_20240615_182300844.jpg

I think it looks pretty cool and can't wait to see how it looks when it starts forming.

IMG_20240615_182350596.jpg

There's plenty of tomatoes growing and they are getting bigger every day.

It was a beautiful day so I decided to spark up a joint while I was taking a look at the garden :D

I stopped by the Syracuse New York inner harbor creekwalk today for some fresh air and photographic opportunities.

I found a little grassy area that I had all to myself and scoped out a pretty little patch of yellow wildflowers that I thought might look awesome for a little photoshoot. I was happy to see all of the teeming wildlife while getting down close for the shots. Lot's of bees were active today.
It was an enjoyable outing .

Let's have a look at the cannabis before wrapping up this post.

IMG_20240615_220104176_HDR.jpg

This is the female Crack Mack, fifty one days into vegetation.

I am not certain if this is my slowest growing cannabis plant to date but it sure feels like it. Coming up on two months of vegetation I feel like she should be bigger.

The plant has shown some decent upward development since the last post update, but nothing explosive by any means.

I'm certain that the heavy stem training slowed the progress of its growth, but I feel confident that she should hit a good growth spurt here soon.

IMG_20240615_220949369.jpg

In the photo above I have highlighted the area of the plant that reveals the sex. The white wispy hairs are the pistils, and are a female plant trait.

This is what is desired primarily for flowering cannabis plants, due to the fact that the female plants produce the desired buds which produce both the psychoactive and medicinal compounds that we seek to obtain by cultivating the plant.

The new growth hasn't been displaying any issues. Previously I had some burnt tips happening and I think this was a result of high pH, because since my adjustment lower the plant is responding well with no new burnt tips.

At this point of the Crack Macks growth I just need to be patient. I could increase the light intensity but I don't see it as necessary, as I'm sure the plant is getting enough light currently, and pushing it to grow faster by introducing higher light intensity is more of a recipe for problems than for increased rate of growth.

The most exciting aspect of this Crack Mack to me is that it shows characteristics consistent with the Big Mack Superstar longleaf profile, (which produce bomb fruity bud) and that indicates there's a good chance that the wait will be well worth it if this ends up producing the type of bud that I think it will.

I have a lot more future oriented thoughts with the Crack Mack, but we'll get to that in the next update.

What do you all think of how the plants are looking?

I'd love to read your thoughts in the comment section!

Thank you for stopping by!

Have a good day! -@futuremind

I can't believe how good it all looks! And you're getting fruits already! Especially that eggplant - mine are wimpy wimpy wimpy. I've taken some inspiration from you regarding pH, and watered my eggplant with water with a little vinegar in it yesterday. They hadn't grown at all, and were a tad yellowish. But both my peppers and eggplant have not been attacked by tiny black beetles this year, and the peppers have blossoms, so I'm hopeful this year will be better than my pathetic last year. Hey, picking stuff small just causes the plant to produce even more, so consider harvesting the pepper and squash soon. Beat the neighbors to it!

Thank you @owasco!

I'm hopeful you'll get some stronger eggplant. I don't know how to measure one way or another if an eggplant is a good size and healthy because I have no experience growing them before, same with the squash!

Hopefully the vinegar will help for your pH adjustment and will do the trick, and that vinegar will probably keep those flies away is my guess.

That's a good tip about picking stuff early to promote more production. The small pepper is looking like it might be rotting or something might have got inside of it, not sure but the pepper plants in the back are gaining some decent size so hopefully there will be more.

What a brilliant day with all those yellow flowers and the garden just humming along. A puff to celebrate. It's great to know how you determine the sex of the plant. How long does it take before the pistils appear and you can determine the sex?

Thank you @litguru.

It's always nice to enjoy a good toke with the plants while admiring their mystique.

The dominant Sativa traits in these genetics usually show sex at 4-5 weeks. The males (pollen sacks) usually around 4 weeks and the females (the pistils) usually around 5 weeks.

Determining the sex is quite easy with cannabis. Pollen sacks (male plants) are pretty unmistakable with a ball/spade shape sacks, and they do not shoot pistils. The wispy pistils are a female trait only and produce the desired buds.

Currently at 54 days of vegetation and will probably be at about day 80ish when I induce flowering, and flowering will probably take about another 8 weeks lol.

It looks like it requires some patience and diligence to grow plants, but the results are so satisfying. Sativa is my favorite because it perks me up. :)

I am very glad that the plants are developing well, you are an excellent Druid hahaha How long ago did you start this project? I find it hard to believe that there are already fruits or I just don't realize how much time has passed.

Thank you my friend.
This project is not even a full two months old yet, it's amazing how fast the plants grew their fruits. They were all clones from mature plants I am pretty sure, and getting them in the ground early in the season helped.
