Our Cabbage Farming Journey: From Planting to Harvest to Selling Fresh Cabbage in the Market
Hello, fellow gardeners and farmers here in @hivegarden ! 🌱💛
I’m excited to share our Cabbage farming journey – from planting to harvesting to selling in the market. May this story inspire you to keep planting with passion no matter how hard the challenges may be.
I grew up in a cabbage farm. For almost 30 years, my parents have been planting cabbage here in our province. This farm gave us everything we needed, it sent us to school, put food on our table, and kept our family together.
Now that we are all grown up, we still choose to stay and plant. My brothers are now helping my parents in the field, and I help whenever I can like helping through financing. People sometimes ask my siblings why did not look for office jobs after graduating and answered simple by Farming is our passion and this farm is our life.
Every planting season starts with preparing the land. My parents, with the help of my brothers, plow and clean the soil. They remove weeds, loosen the ground and make sure it’s ready for planting. After this, we carefully plant the cabbage seedlings one by one following straight rows. It takes time and patience, but it is the most important step.
Once the seedlings are planted, the real work begins. We water them, pull out weeds and protect the pants from pests. Framing is like taking care of a child, we need to watch it grow and make sure it is healthy . it takes almost three months before we can harvest.
Harvest season is the happiest part of farming. We wake up very early in the morning, cut each cabbage one by one, and prepare them for selling. Seeing the fruits of our hard work is a big reward.
But the reality of being a farmer is not always easy. Sometimes the price of cabbage is high, sometimes it is very low. Today, the price here is 50 pesos or equivalent to 1 dollar per kilo. Which is already okay for us. There are times we earn well, but there are also times, when we barely make enough toc over the cost of fertilizer and seeds. Still. We continue because farming is not just about money, it is about feeding people and keeping the tradition alive.
During the pandemic, we once told our father stop to farming because of his health. But we noticed that he was sad and restless at home. He become weak, and we realized that farming was his happiness. So we let him go back to the farm. Slowly, he become strong again and we saw his smile return. Framing is not just good for the body; it is also good for the mind and heart.
Farming cabbage is not easy. It takes hard work and patience that everything will grow well. We face unpredictable weather, rising prices of fertilizer, and unstable market prices. But even if we feel tired or discouraged, we keep going. Farming is not just a job, it is a way of life.
Thank you for reading my story. Our cabbage farm taught me many lessons that success comes from hard work, that patience always pays off, and that happiness is found when you do what you love.
To my fellow framers and gardeners, I salute you. We are the reason there is food on every table. Even when life gets hard, let us continue planting with love and hope. Farming may be tough, but it is one of the most meaningful and rewarding jobs in the world. Have a nice day! 💚

We also experience the same in our farm , sometimes we lose, sometimes we earn. Planting cabbage is not easy especially with the high cost of fertilizer and sprays. I hope you will have a good harvest and a big income sissy...
