It's July. The dill was about to bloom beautifully, so I took a picture of it and used it as the opening shot. I am glad we bought a new camera last year, because although the camera on my smartphone is very convenient, a stand-alone camera can take a good picture like this one.

In Germany, it has been hot and then cooled down by thunderstorms. Yesterday there was a thunderstorm, and today is cooler, but the plants seem to be feeling the summer, with tomato flowers and fruits everywhere.

I found a nicely monster-looking tomato fruit (some of you may know my daughter and I are monster fans from @monster.factory) and took a picture of it. It will a large black tomato, and it is growing strong regardless to the ups and downs of the temperature and in the shade.

The multiflora mini-tomatoes, which I thought would be the first to bear fruit, are slowly slowly starting to flower now. It is the fun of gardening that things don't go as we expect them to. I already can imagine my daughter harvesting and snacking the fruits.

There are also green zebra tomatoes, medium-sized tomatoes ..., but I stop here. Yes, I'm a big tomato fan. I'll put up a tomato song that my daughter and I love. I'm sure some of you definitely like it 🍅

The season is summer, but by the time the summer solstice passes, preparations for fall and winter are already underway. I am making seedlings of Italian black kale, which is very useful to plant because of its cold tolerance. Black kale is unique in appearance and adds a lot of fun to an autumn/winter garden. The plant next to the black kale is a vegetable called puntarelle, which is also an Italian vegetable.

The mustard leaves, which gave us leaves in the spring, is dropping seeds for fall. It is a kind of ideal and my favorite way that plants grow by themselves.

Speaking of leaves for fall and winter, the wild arugula I planted before I covered the soil with the straw is starting to grow. It's handy to have leaves on the balcony.

Speaking of leaves, I had completely forgotten about the pea sprout, which had turned into an artistic form 😅 It was used in a recipe in a Japanese cook book but it is not easily available in Germany. So I started growing it.

Although I wrote I started preparing for fall and winter, at the end of my gardening today, I planted mini pumpkin seedlings, which is a kind of late spring work ... The picture of the seed bag I found at an organic store was so cute that I gambled to sow the seeds. I dream to make mini pumpkin gratins in autumn 🎃

Since I will be living alone until the middle of next week, I finished working in the balcony completely at my own pace, took a bath, took a nap, and ate a bread, tofu, and salad sandwich from the market. I look forward to making sandwiches like this with tomatoes from the balcony soon.

7月に入りましたね。ディルがきれいな花を咲かせようとしていたので写真を撮って冒頭の一枚にしました。スマートフォンのカメラも便利ですが、単体のカメラはこういう一枚をうまく撮れるので、去年新しくカメラを買ってよかったです。

ドイツではこのところ暑くなっては雷雨で気温が下がるのの繰り返しです。昨日雷雨があり、今日は涼しいですが、植物たちは夏を感じているようで、そこここでトマトの花やら実やらがついています。

なんともモンスターみのあふれる実があったので写真に納めました。黒い大玉トマトで、気温のアップダウンも日陰もものともせず、がんがん育っています。

一番初めに実がつくと思ったマルチフローラのミニトマトはゆっくり今になって花をつけ始めました。人間の思惑通りにいかないところがガーデニングの楽しさでもあります。

他にも緑のゼブラトマト、バルコニーでずんぐりむっくり育つ中玉トマトなどが実をつけているのですがトマトだらけになってしまうので、今回はこんなところで。子供と私が大好きなトマトの歌を貼っておきます🍅

季節は夏ですが、夏至を過ぎる頃には秋冬の準備がもう始まります。耐寒性が強いので植えておくと何かと便利なイタリアの黒ケールの苗を作っています。黒ケールは見た目がなんともユニークで、寂しくなりがちな秋冬の庭に楽しさを加えてくれます。黒ケール隣の植物は、これまたイタリアでポピュラーなプンタレッラという野菜です。

春に葉っぱをもらっていたカラシナも秋に向けて順調に種を落としてくれています。まかなくても何かしら生えてくるのが理想です。

秋冬用の葉物といえば、藁を敷く前にまいておいたルッコラも育ち始めています。バルコニーで葉物がとれると便利なのです。

葉物といえば、すっかり忘れていた豆苗が芸術的な姿になっていました😅中国出身の人気料理家のウー・ウェンさんの豆乳料理の本に豆苗と豆乳のスープが出ていたのですが、ドイツで豆苗は手に入らず自分で育て始めたのでした。母もウー・ウェンさんが大好きで、よくレシピのコピーをメールで送ってきてくれたのが懐かしいです。

秋冬の準備とかいいつつ、今日のガーデニングの最後には、ミニかぼちゃの苗を植えました。オーガニックショップで見つけた種袋の写真があまりにかわいくて、ぎりぎり種をまけそうだったのでギャンブルしたのでした🎃

来週半ばまで一人暮らしということで、マイペースで庭仕事を終えて、お風呂に入って、昼寝をして、マーケットのパン・豆腐・サラダのサンドイッチを食べました。近々バルコニーのトマトでこんなサンドイッチを作るのが楽しみです。
