Planting onions for a tasty summer.

Hello Hivians. How was your weekend? I for one am entertained. I didn't have many plans for this weekend but the weather was nice so why not a little gardening.

It's already mid-February and I hadn't planted the onions so if I wanted some big, sweet and tasty onions in the summer this was the time to plant. In addition, this way I could involve the children in the task so that they learn and come into contact with the earth.

Onions are a very easy plant to grow. Basically they need well-disturbed soil, sun and not too much water.
I usually make seedlings for almost everything I plant but not onions. The templates are cheap and better than the ones you can make yourself, so my recommendation is to buy them.

The first thing is to stir the soil well, for that I used my two little thugs. Needless to say, this was a task that they loved, they looked like two little scavenging moles. They left it perfect and I didn't have to make any effort.
Then make the straight lines so that, in addition to being beautiful, it is a practical garden and plant the onions without sinking them too much into the ground. A couple of centimeters is enough.
Adding a little ash on top of the ground, from the fireplace or barbecue is ideal. This will make them grow stronger and healthier.
Then cut the tips of the remaining leaves of the plant to avoid unwanted fungi.
And finally, abundant watering so that they adhere well to the transplant and everything will be ready.

You only have to water them once a week if it's sunny and every two weeks if it's not. If it rains, don't water, of course. And onions alone do not usually have predators or diseases.
Do you have a garden? And if you have it, what do you plant?

Sounds like a lovely weekend! Gardening with the kids must have been a lot of fun. I don't have a garden, but I grow plants in pots. Do you have any other favorite plants to grow? #FreeCompliments
