Beautiful Sunset Over The Adriatic Sea [ENG//PL]

My vacation in Tuscany a few years ago included visits to the beach. It's worth taking advantage of the proximity to the sea, devoting yourself to a moment of relaxation on the beach and diving into the warm waters of the Adriatic. One such visit lasted until sunset. With my camera with me, I couldn't resist taking a few photos, capturing the moment when the last light of the day slowly disappeared below the horizon.

Moim wakacjom w Toskanii kilka lat temu towarzyszyły wizyty na plaży. Warto wykorzystać bliskość morza, oddać się chwili relaksu na plaży i wejść na moment do ciepłych wód Adriatyku. Jedna z takich wizyt trwała aż do zachodu słońca. Mając ze sobą aparat, nie mogłem odmówić sobie wykonania kilku zdjęć, uwieczniających moment, w którym ostatnie światło dnia powoli chowa się za horyzontem.

The first photo, despite certain technical imperfections (it was taken with a long exposure to achieve a blur effect on the waves, but without a tripod, which resulted in the image not being perfectly sharp), remains my favorite. Not every shot has to be technically perfect. Often the emotions it conveys are more important. The photograph captures a moment when my wife is standing at the boundary between the sea and the beach, with the waves gently washing over the shore. In my opinion, in such circumstances, the aesthetic qualities and personal character of the image outweigh its technical imperfections.

Pierwsze zdjęcie, mimo pewnych niedoskonałości technicznych (zostało wykonane z wydłużonym czasem naświetlania w celu uzyskania efektu rozmycia fal, jednak bez użycia statywu, co skutkuje lekkim poruszeniem), pozostaje moim ulubionym. Nie każde ujęcie musi być perfekcyjne pod względem technicznym — często większe znaczenie mają emocje, które ze sobą niesie. Fotografia przedstawia moment, w którym moja żona stoi na granicy morza i plaży, a fale delikatnie obmywają brzeg. W mojej opinii, przy takich okolicznościach walory estetyczne i osobisty charakter zdjęcia przeważają nad jego technicznymi niedoskonałościami.

I used an old tree lying on the beach to take a few photos. I always look for such elements in landscapes dominated by water. They're a great addition to the composition of a photo. You just need to position yourself correctly, consider how the element affects the scene, and find interesting interactions. For example, sea waves crashing against the tree, or sunlight illuminating part of it, bringing out more detail in the texture of the bark.

Do wykonania kilku zdjęć wykorzystałem stare, leżące na plaży drzewo. Zawsze szukam takich elementów w krajobrazie, w którym dominuje woda. To świetne uzupełnienie kompozycji zdjęcia. Wystarczy tylko odpowiednio się ustawić i zastanowić się, jak taki element wpływa na scenę, oraz znaleźć ciekawe interakcje. Na przykład morskie fale rozbijające się o to drzewo lub światło słoneczne oświetlające jego fragment i wydobywające więcej szczegółów z faktury kory.

Another thing worth considering is the structure of the water—how it changes in photos depending on the exposure time. Is it better to blur it? Or does it better present itself as the human eye sees it? Personally, for typical landscape photos, I prefer slightly blurred waves. For me, the lack of this effect results in too much detail—a sort of mess or chaos. Blurring the water adds a touch of minimalism to the photo. Still, I'm not a fan of excessive blur. I always try to find the right balance between a smooth water surface and a clearly rippled surface.

Kolejną rzeczą nad którą warto się zastanowić jest struktura wody. Jak zmienia się ona na zdjęciach przy różnej długości czasu naświetlania. Czy lepiej ją rozmyć ? A może lepiej prezentuje się w formie takiej, jak widzą ją ludzkie oczy? Osobiście przy zdjęciach typowo krajobrazowych preferuję lekko rozmyte fale. Brak takiego efektu powoduje dla mnie zbyt dużo ilość szczegółów - pewien rodzaj bałaganu lub chaosu. Rozmycie wody wporwadza nieco minimalizmu do fotografii. Mimo to nie jestem też zwolennikiem przesadnego rozmycia wody. Zawsze staram się znaleźć odpowiedni balans między gładką taflą wody, a zupełnie pofalowaną.
