Esta semana de receso ocurrió un suceso que supone un cambio en mi vida. Bueno, ocurrieron varios, pero el que considero más importante es el siguiente:

Era un día normal en mi vida productiva, siguiendo la misma rutina y construyendo una disciplina fuerte. Ese día, no sé por qué motivo del universo, me levanté una hora después de que sonara la alarma. Apenas me levanté, sin cepillarme ni nada, me dieron una noticia: estaban vendiendo una cámara y el hombre que la ofrecía estaba en la esquina. Mi papá y yo salimos corriendo de la casa, vimos al hombre y enseguida comenzamos a negociar. Su precio inicial era muy elevado. Seguimos regateando, pero aún así el precio seguía alto. Nos fuimos decepcionados, pero nos quedamos con el contacto del hombre por si cambiaba de opinión.

Dos horas después, sonó el teléfono. Contestamos, y el hombre había hecho una rebaja espectacular en el precio. Saqué todos mis ahorros para cumplir uno de mis sueños: comprar mi primera cámara. Él nos dijo que estaría en mi casa a las 4 de la tarde. Esas fueron las horas más largas de mi vida. En ese lapso de tiempo, no llegaba. Incluso fui a un viacrucis en la iglesia, y aún no llegaba.

Finalmente, llegó la hora. Mis nervios explotaron, mi ansiedad aumentó. El hombre llegó con todo el equipo y, después de contar el dinero, no pude contenerme: lloré, lloré mucho. Le agradecí a Dios y a mis padres por haber hecho realidad este sueño.

Sé que este es un nuevo paso en mi desarrollo como artista y como persona. Ahora es momento de sacar mi creatividad a flote y crear. No puedo detenerme. Cuando la encendí, me sentí extraño. Nunca había maniobrado una cámara en mis manos. Comencé a buscar tutoriales en YouTube sobre fotografía y sobre el triángulo de exposición. Era raro pasar del teléfono a la cámara, pero se sentía profesional. Si alguna vez lo han experimentado, sabrán de lo que hablo.

Empecé a tomar fotos bastante aleatorias dentro de mi casa, probando, analizando y aprendiendo. Cuando me fui a dormir, no podía. La euforia que sentía no desaparecía, y mi cabeza solo pensaba en composición y en la calidad que tendría mi trabajo de ahora en adelante, hasta que quedé dormido en mis pensamientos.

Solo sé que, en el poco tiempo que la he tenido en mis manos, ha habido un cambio importante en mi fotografía. Ya he iniciado algunos proyectos que tenía pendientes, pero que no había podido hacer por falta de equipo. Ahora que lo tengo, es hora de dejar volar mi creatividad y pasar a la próxima etapa como artista.

This week, during my break, an event occurred that marks a significant change in my life. Well, several things happened, but the one I consider most important is the following:

It was a normal day in my productive life, following the same routine and building strong discipline. That day, for some reason in the universe, I woke up an hour after my alarm went off. As soon as I got up, without even brushing my teeth or anything, I received some news: someone was selling a camera, and the man offering it was waiting on the corner. My dad and I rushed out of the house, saw the man, and immediately started negotiating. His initial price was very high. We kept haggling, but the price was still steep. We left disappointed but kept the man’s contact in case he changed his mind.

Two hours later, the phone rang. We answered, and the man had slashed the price dramatically. I took out all my savings to fulfill one of my dreams: buying my first camera. He told us he would be at my house by 4 p.m. Those were the longest hours of my life. During that time, he didn’t arrive. I even went to a Stations of the Cross service at church, and he still hadn’t come.

Finally, the moment arrived. My nerves were on edge, my anxiety peaked. The man showed up with all the equipment, and after counting the money, I couldn’t hold back—I cried, I cried so much. I thanked God and my parents for making this dream come true.

I know this is a new step in my development as an artist and as a person. Now it’s time to unleash my creativity and create. I can’t stop. When I turned it on, I felt strange. I had never handled a real camera before. I started searching for photography tutorials on YouTube, learning about the exposure triangle. It was weird transitioning from a phone to a camera, but it felt professional. If you’ve ever experienced it, you know what I mean.

I began taking random test shots around my house, experimenting, analyzing, and learning. When I went to bed, I couldn’t sleep. The excitement I felt wouldn’t fade, and my mind kept thinking about composition and the quality of my work from now on—until I finally drifted off to sleep, lost in my thoughts.

All I know is that in the short time I’ve had it in my hands, there’s already been a significant change in my photography. I’ve started some projects I had pending but couldn’t pursue due to a lack of equipment. Now that I have it, it’s time to let my creativity soar and move on to the next stage as an artist.

I fulfilled one of my dreams, and I believe it’s all thanks to the effort I’ve put into my growth as a person. I think I deserve it, so remember—strive to be better every day. Good things come on their own.
