Acridoidea (Grasshopper)
This is a insects belonging to the order orthoptera.Theyre usually green with long hind adapted for jumping.
Major characteristics.
Body Structure
Elongated with a hard exoskeleton, chewing mouth.
Eyes
Compound eyes with distinctive antennae which are broad and membranous.
Diet
Herbivorous feeding mainly on grasses,leaves and on crops.
Wings
Two pairs front wings are narrow and leathery back wings.
Benefits
The serve as food source in some countries.
Their droppings add nutrients to the soil.
They're prey for birds, reptiles mammals etc playing a key role in foodchain.
Used for research purposes.
Fun facts
They can jump 20x their body length.
They are ancient as the dinosaurs.
In some culture the symbolize freedom and courage.

This is a multi coloured grasshopper, it's very smelly, Igbos call it " Iboribo"
