Learning to knit again on these icy January days

This year I got back into crochet after a long pause and for some reason after completing a few garments my brain starting nagging at me to try knitting again. It's been around 10 years probably and I had only picked up the most basic of skills but I really love the drape of knit garments so I picked up my needles again to see if I still had any muscle memory left in there.
I watched a quick youtube video on how to knit and purl and gave it a go. My first swatch looked kind of messy (my tension was pretty uneven), I made a second swatch which I was much happier with and then decided to start knitting a sweater 🤣
I know this is really ambitious but I always like jumping in the deep end and figuring things out as I go, it's much more stimulating...
Here is my current progress, it's a bit hard to get a good pic as knit curls on the edges and it's also on circular needles which are a bit unwieldy:

I took the above pic outside because the natural light allows a much better representation of the true color of the yarn.
As you can see this is what it looks like inside via my camera, much more dull and brown looking.
I have made a few errors along the way which is expected, I somehow made a few increases and didn't quite figure out what I had done until later. I already have some creative ideas for covering the mistakes which will probably involve an embroidery design at the end...

A closeup, I'm fairly pleased with my tension after all this time :)

I also decided to try a little swatch of color work and it's definitely tricky working with two strands of yarn, my first attempt looks pretty uneven, hopefully a few more tries and it will click! I thought using chunky yarn would be easier but it actually became quite bulky on the needles and was harder to manage than I thought.

I am trying to work on it a little bit each day when I am too tired to work or my eyes are burning from too much screen time. Knitting is always said to be slower than crochet, and it seems to be true but not as much as I thought, I have no idea if I will be able to crank out a full sweater before winter is done but we shall see I suppose.

Wow this is beautiful even the mistakes are not so noticeable
I think if I didn't point it out most casual observers wouldn't notice
Really how the colour changes inside and outside, outdoors, both are beautiful, but what a change!!!! Taking up knitting again is complicated, I haven't knitted for years and right now I don't need it, but I remember my grandmother taught me... but never with two wools of two colours!!! It's going to look spectacular!
The color work isn't overly complex concept wise but the yarn management and concentration is high 😅
I don't doubt it... I don't doubt it!😂
10 years later wow these looks pretty amazing
Muscle memory is an amazing thing!
