| LA CHASSE A LA BALEINE CONTINUE
Elles étaient moins de 1000 il y a plus d’un siècle alors que les chasseurs baleiniers les tuaient par centaines tout autour du globe à une époque où on s’éclairait encore à l’huile… Le moratoire international a permis de stopper la chasse et de retrouver des stocks de populations de baleines à bosses moins alarmants. Mais voilà, L’ISLANDE, LA NORVEGE, et LE JAPON ont décidé dernièrement de reprendre la chasse baleinière en toute violation du moratoire international. En réalité Le Japon n’a quant à lui jamais arrêté de chasser les baleines en allant les harponner au coeur même du sanctuaire international dans l’Antartique, prétextant avec la plus grande hypocrisie des « prélèvements scientifiques »… Les pays signataires du moratoire international, ont quant à eux fermé les yeux sur cette situation connue avec cette même hypocrisie que seule la politique sait formuler. Le Japon étant la 3e puissance économique mondiale, aucun représentant de gouvernement, dont certainement celui pour lequel vous avez voté, n’a eu le courage de risquer des accords économiques pour sauver quelques milliers de baleines. Le sanctuaire est donc resté vide de contrôles maritimes se transformant ainsi en abattoir créé sur mesure pour Le Japon. Paul Watson, fondateur de l’organisation Sea Shepherd, s’est quant à lui rendu sur place avec ses équipes, en Antarctique, avec ses propres bateaux. Son but, défendre les baleines en dérangeant les bateaux baleiniers pendant leur activité illégale et impunie. Seule alternative possible devant l’absence assourdissante des autorités internationales sur les lieux. Aujourd’hui Paul Watson est en prison pour avoir tenté de défendre ces baleines.

WHALING CONTINUES
There were less than 1000 more than a century ago when whalers killed them by the hundreds around the globe at a time when they still lit up with oil... The international moratorium has helped to stop hunting and have led to less alarming humpback whale stocks. But here, ICELAND, NORWAY and JAPAN have recently decided to resume whaling in violation of the international moratorium. In reality Japan has never stopped hunting whales by harpooning them in the very heart of the international sanctuary in the Antarctic, using the pretext of the greatest hypocrisy of «scientific samples»... The countries signatories of the international moratorium, for their part, have closed their eyes to this known situation with the same hypocrisy that only politics can formulate. Japan being the third largest economy in the world, no government representative, including certainly the one you voted for, had the courage to risk economic agreements to save a few thousand whales. The sanctuary has therefore remained empty of maritime controls thus becoming a slaughterhouse created to measure for Japan. Paul Watson, founder of the Sea Shepherd organization, went to Antarctica with his own boats. Its purpose is to defend whales by disturbing whaling vessels during their illegal and unpunished activity. The only possible alternative in view of the deafening absence of international authorities on the scene. Today, Paul Watson is in prison for trying to defend these whales.
