Hail to the Queen!

Today we celebrate Victoria Day to honour Queen Victoria on her birthday, though it is actually on the 24th. She was instrumental in the creation of Canada. While the constitution limits royal power in Canada, we are a monarchy, and Charles III is our current king. His great-great-great grandmother oversaw many historic events in Canada's history, including events that influenced the history of the province of British Columbia. Under her reign, disparate dominions were united into a single confederation that we now know as Canada. For this and other reasons, today we officially honour her memory.

Here in Australia we get a day off on the king's birthday which we Mark as June 10th. Can't say I give a f*** about royalty or the colonial systems they are tied to, but we all love a long weekend so we would never give it up. All hail the king.

I will let thy anti-loyalist sentiments slide this time, madam, in the name of fraternity across the colonies. 😆 May your brew be cold and may long live the King 🍻
