Fall farmers market

Squash

Fall farmers markets in Vermont are getting going. Lots of squash and pumpkins.

Pumpkins and squash

This is a display at Happy Valley Orchard. They also have apple butter, cider and apples.

Fruit

They bring in some other summer fruit in an outdoor area under a tent.

Garlic and onions

Plus some garlic and onions.

Apples and pumpkins

Lots of apples and pumpkins.

Tent

Here's a view of the outside area.

Mums and pumpkins

Out front they have some mums and more pumpkins.

Pumpkins

And more pumpkins 🙂 My favorite photo with the weathered buildings and a couple of apple trees in the background.

What do you do to decorate for the fall? we usually bring in some squash and pumpkins from the garden. Maybe buy a few others for decoration but usually things we eventually will eat lol

Beautiful pumpkins! Do you eat small pumpkins too?

Thanks. There are different varieties of pumpkins. Its more about the type than size. Pie pumpkins have more sugar and less water so they are easier and better for pies. Here's a disturbing fact for you - some of the canned pumpkin pie filling is actually squash! or a mix of pumpkin and squash.

I plan on getting some pumpkins to decorate my front entry, just need to go to the market. Now you reminded me I need to get apples to make applesauce before it’s to late 😅

We are going to make a plan today I think. See what is in the garden and what we want to go buy. And make another batch of apple butter. Can't ever get enough apple butter 🙂

Got my first bushel of apples yesterday. Now you got me thinking about apple butter. My husband would love that😍

This year I think I will be able to have all my own pumpkins to decorate with. I also have the 4 mums. I like the "goldy" color ones, not yellow. Those are all I buy but when they come back up, they usually aren't goldy. the East of Steps one is decidedly brick colored. Sigh...

I also have some wreaths and swags I put up. But I don't do it until October 1.

October 1 is a good date to decorate. Our pumpkins are a lttle slow this year anyway 🙂
