Orchid tree

avatar

Because I live in the north and orchid trees like warm growing conditions and won't tolerate frost, this was a new plant for me.

These were growing in Mexico,, but in the US , they grow in Hawaii, Southern California, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida,
They are native to tropical and subtropical regions, including parts of Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Orchid trees are not technically orchids. They can live for a long time, typically 50 years or more. They are fast-growing trees that mature around 35 feet tall and can continue to bloom for several decades.

They are also extremely photogenic, hummingbirds love them, they smell really good! and they cast lovely shadows!

Hope you enjoy the photos! Do these plants grow in your part of the world?

@melinda010100 Beautiful night, spectacular flowers, gorgeous. Around here there are some very similar flowers called cayennes, of different colors and shades... I loved your post, a big hug.

The flower display is very beautiful, I have never seen a tree orchid like this. Most orchid plants here are attached to other plants. I am curious about the aroma, is it the same?

I read that the intensity of the scent can vary between trees. The fragrance of the ones in the photos is strong, spicy,.

It turns out that there is only a slight difference, which I often smell is a strong and fresh aroma. Hopefully someday I can find an orchid like yours.

Orchids are one of my favorite plants.
Their energetic value in flower therapy is invaluable due to their ability to harmonize energetic vibrations.
I've never seen the ones you're showing in my country. They're beautiful.

Wow! Well detailed. Growing up I use to see this plant in one particular rich man compound and I never knew it's orchid. What I love so much about it is it's smell.

Adorable orchids. I have five species here, and I've already posted about them. They are orchids that, due to their elegance, beauty, and other qualities, offer invaluable material for our enjoyment. I appreciate you bringing us the orchids for our enjoyment.

If you like orchids, you should come to Cuba, specifically to Pinar del Río, where the country's largest variety of orchids can be found. There's even an orchid garden with the world's smallest orchid.

Beautiful flowers, I suppose these might be a hybrid species. Some of these flowers can be smaller with lighter hues...

I think there are several different species of this lovely plant.

Those blooms are fantastic! Buds are starting to pop up here be we are still in cleanup mode. Hopefully in a couple short weeks, our flowering tree will be as photogenic as yours. So much work in the next month to set the yard and garden up for the year for some #hivegarden posts!

Spring is arriving here, too! There are wild flowers blooming and migrating birds returning and you're right, there is a very much yard work to be done.

Look, I bought an orchid plant, apparently it was easy to attach it to another plant, like a tree trunk, but I must have been a bit lazy because I didn't achieve my goal. I love flowers, all of them, but the orchid is magnificent.

I thought orchids only grew in cool, almost cold climates, not warm ones, so if I ever get the chance to get one, I'll take better care of it.

By the way, great photos!

I've seen those before, they are pretty. That is one thing I really miss about the Caribbean is all of the flowering trees. It's such a pretty place! Those are some pretty pictures they took!
