Cabbage of the Day

My family is here for Easter weekend and I have no time to write a post, but I can share these beautiful red cabbage photos!

After this cabbage posed for it's photo shoot, it became a delicious slaw.

Cabbage is quite popular in this part of the world, too. White cabbage is more common, but we also grow red cabbage.

By finely shredding the vegetables and combining red and white cabbage with grated carrots and thinly julienned onions, we prepare a salad that is known locally as tricolor, and it is exceptionally refreshing. You can add various dressings, and it's a good accompaniment to different dishes.

I think that sounds similar to what we call coleslaw! Finely shredded with a mayonnaise or a vinegar type dressing. I could happily eat it often

Love cabbage and red is my favorite. Use too, even though I love the green too and it has a more traditional place in my early life, once in a while a head would not really taste that good and although it was rare, there was no way to tell before buying it. Purple cabbage on the other hand, I have never bought a head the was not sweet and delish.

Maybe so!... maybe whether the weather is dryer or wetter or what is in the soil. I'm sure some farmer knows.

My Easter was quiet but content. Mom no longer has the whole crowd to her house and although I would have still gone to see her, another family member invited her to a birthday party for one of her Great-Grandsons, so I spend the day alone. Although I love my visits, I never mind an extra day to myself not and then.

I won't say cabbage is part of my breakfast, but for lunch or dinner, I have it in some form: fresh, stewed, or pickled.
