Lovely homes in Elgin
A weekend photo tour of Elgin, Illinois.
Elgin is located 35 mi (56 km) northwest of Chicago along the Fox River. It has a population of around 114,000,.
Probably most well known for Elgin watches, the watch factory employed three generations from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century,. It was the largest producer of fine watches in the United States. It closed in 1965.
This 101-year-old Methodist house of worship sustained devastating damage during storms that occurred during the weekend of March 15th.
This photo shows the roof repairs after the copper roof has been replaced.
The Methodist church houses a homeless shelter and as high winds tore off the roof of the building there were dozens sleeping in the church's basement. No one was injured.
The Lutheran church accoss the street shared space until the repairs were completed

When I was a child I used to watch Fairy Tale series, which was played every Sunday in the Television. Then, we had only one channel. Now when watching these lovely photographs of colourful houses, it reminds me of the houses in the fairytale series.
Good memories! Colorful houses remind me of children's tales, too!

I watched the TV series multiple times!

Very lovely pictures. Very hard to choose a house as they are all very beautiful with a nice architecture. I love more that type of construction than the ones we build today.
I think I rather like the Gothic house the best! I would love to explore the inside of it! 😁
