Fresh Cannabis – My entry for The Friendlymoose Photocontest – "Fresh"

On 1 April 2024, after almost 100 years of prohibition, a fresh wind blew through our country and Germany finally brought the law into line with reality and common sense. The possession and cultivation of cannabis for personal use got legalised, or rather decriminalised, in small quantities for people aged 18 and over. That alone is extremely fresh for a country like mine.

These photos are aimed at people of legal age. Minors please leave the room. If you don't have a good relationship with these plants, please be respectful of those who do. Thank you.

So this is my entry for The Friendlymoose Photocontest #FPC with the topic "Fresh".

This ‘freshly hatched’ plant stretches out towards us and almost waves its first real leaves. The seed coat is still attached to the cotyledon, but that doesn't bother the little one. It is ready for a short but powerful life and what it gives us at the end is also fresh. That's why it's my entry.

In the second, earlier picture, we can see the cotyledons just breaking out of the seed. They are literally craving moisture and it looks as if she is drinking the drops.

The last picture shows us why this is probably one of the most beautiful medicinal plants on the planet. Even people who were previously rather sceptical about this plant, and still are, are impressed by the beauty of the flowers. You don't have to consume plants to like them.

When you see how a tiny seed gets a stately plant in a short time, you might even get an idea of how sustainable agriculture can work with the right laws – yes I talk about hemp, you make ropes, sails and 1000 other things from it. The older folks will remember.

In any case, growing them is a lot of fun and offers relaxing moments, while growing and afterwards, and many new botanical experiences. And it looks like we even have an entry for the photocontest.
