HISTORICAL ANTECEDENT AND HOW THE FAST RISING OF POULTRY FARM BUSINESS HELPS TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT IN NIGERIA.

Historical antecedent.

Historically, far way back in Nigeria if you rear 10 birds for commercial purpose, don't be surprised that you will be one to eat them all yourself. Ask me how; then there's no marketing strategy for dressed Broiler chicken, the only birds meat people eat then were local chicken and dressed chicken that were imported from Coutonu, Benin republic.

The imported chicken are usually sealed in cartons which they are sold by those that managed to run frozen store then. They didn't really patronize home reared chicken then. Even if there is home reared chicken meat production, maybe it's reared by poultry farm owned by top businessmen or politicians.

What brought about the fast rising of poultry farm business in Nigeria?

The first step that brought the poultry farm business to a limelight was when the current president of Nigeria placed ban on imported goods by closing the border between Nigeria and Benin republic. At first, not everyone buy the idea but at long last we saw how it improved our home made food production. So in lieu of that development, all citizens began to patronize home made product which rearing of broiler chicken is one of them.

Its impacts on reducing unemployment.

One of the challenges we are facing in Nigeria is the issue of unemployment, since the poultry farm business is becoming vast and its marketing is becoming widespread. A lot of people have benefited from the business including myself even those who rear it on small scale level are hugely benefiting from it. It has also improve people's financial life considering how the business is now lucrative.
