The little chicks have arrived.
Since we have added hens and roosters, the breed in question is the White Leghorn. An extremely prolific breed in terms of eggs.
But we wanted a domestic breed that is more resistant.
Do you have a favorite breed of chicken?
Since the chickens have arrived from the farm.
Early this morning my wife went to bring home the chickens. Since the frame of the old chicken coop had rotted, it had lasted for many years. Yesterday I was forced to quickly make a chicken coop in the coop. The big chickens are in a separate section. But since these are small chickens, they don't need all that space. And since they are small, I had to add two light bulbs to keep them warm.

But the part that I intended and partitioned, my wife reduced even more. Because of heating
. I used an old table board and an old wooden roller blind and simply screwed them together. I added a few more slats from above and that's it.
We always add all the 75W bulbs. Generally there are also stronger bulbs, but these turned out to be ok, because as the chickens grow, we open up more and more space for them and then we move those bulbs so that they are lit everywhere and warmed up.
The old bulb is in the reading because it heats more than it gives light.Since they don't have their own hen, the bulbs will be lit all the time.

Since my son loves chickens, nothing can happen without him being there. And he's already found his favorite chicken. He wanted to bring it into the house, but we convinced him not to.

Now all we have to do is be patient and feed and water regularly.

Thanks for reading.
Until next time.
Stay healthy.

Aaaaahhh they're so cute and tiny and fluffy XD
I think my favourites are Japanese bantams (we had Pekin and Japanese bantams as a small brooding subflock as they just did better than the full sized chickens we had at the time). J's favourite are Australorps (had to ask him as I honestly couldn't remember what he had eventually settled on) but we're currently restocking with bitzas as he knows someone we can buy fertile eggs from.
I'm impressed with the size and build of your chicken house! Ours have a tiny little tin shed inside a fully enclosed chicken run which is never closed XD
A wooden chicken coop is best for winter, and a general coop for summer. But I can't seem to make one :)
What is a general coop? Sorry I'm dumb ^_^;
We got lucky, ours came with the house, we just had to put chicken wire back up xD
What's preventing your construction efforts?
Wooden chicken coop and general coop are the same thing. I just wasn't careful when I wrote it. Wood is a good insulator.
I'm currently hampered by a lack of materials.
There used to be three lumberyards in the village, so you could get laths, boards, and scrap wood. Now I'm not sure if one is still working, and only when needed when they have orders.
The young chicks are so adorable, I wish I could have them where I live, but our town prohibits them. I would have so many, lol.
I think these bans are stupid , but I understand that in urban and densely populated areas it is not a happy option , because of the smell, sounds . And I understand the ban on large livestock , but not for chickens
I agree! I would love to have chickens but not the roosters, lol!
