The ear buds industry is rapidly expanding and you get many new products released every week. So it mostly depends on your budget and choice of features, that one looks forward to when buying an ear bud. But the boy was not buying this because he did not have any. Instead, his old Boat ear bud Airdopes 141 stopped functioning and he has claimed the warranty for the third time, and very frustrated with the process. It comes with one year warranty, and it stopped working after six months. He claimed warranty and they got it replaced, but then the new one also stopped functioning after 3 months. So he claimed it again at 9 months and since then, they are picking up, and sending it back saying its working in their test facility. But when it comes here, it does not. This has happened 3 times over last 3 months, exhausting the warranty time frame now, but who can be held responsible ? Such pathetic process it is - the boy is fed up calling them so many times. As of writing this post they are still processing the complain because it was registered 3 months back and warranty was valid. But we are not sure, if they will really care and replace it.
In India, the consumer can barely do anything. There are consumer courts, but then filling a case would incur you more pain and costs than the product. There is an online consumer helpline site where I filled a complaint during my laptop purchase, but they went back to the company and its up to the company to decide and offer you. If you really want the product company to be fined, then you will have to go to the court. And that's not easy, so consumer rights is a joke here. Hence he thought, to get a new one instead. But then why Boat again ? Because he still feels its a better choice compared to other products in the affordable range. This time he went for the Boat Airdopes 141 ANC - ANC being the added feature. But as I said, you are good as long as it works. So consider yourself lucky, if it works for a year ( at least the warranty period 😀). So far the boy is happy with this new one - the features are working as expected. But if something goes wrong, then their service is definitely not encouraging.
I am not a big fan of ear buds, but then I also gave it try with the hammer ko-20 earbuds about which I wrote in this post. For me there were limited choices because I was looking for clip types for workout purpose. And I must tell you, it stopped working after a month - the left side was completely non-functional. We contacted their customer support and they told us to send the product by courier. But we showed resistance saying why we would spend money on a defective product which is in warranty. After 2-3 conversations, they agreed and picked up and sent another product almost after 2 weeks. I feel, it's the same old one, after repair, but they are saying they replaced it. Honestly since then, I have lost interest in using that. They are just lying in the corner and have asked my wife to use them. She wanted to start her walks.

Nowadays, every company offers product with lot of promises but they turns back once the product comes out defective...I had similar experince with JBL headfone...they replace it in first 6 month and then for the second one they went silent ....although it was in warranty....I am not a big fan of ear buddies...Last time I used an earbudd ..I developed some eye problem.... I am good at using an over the year headfone
Me too, tried once and I think, that's the last. I bought a Sony over the ear headphone , even though the price was high for that reason. Will share details.

I HATE paying a premium for a good product knowing it will have to be replaced in a year. I will pay that for something I know is going to last until I want to upgrade or scoop up a bargain one knowing it will last the year.
For us, the answer is ordering through the evil Amazon. No questions asked (almost) process of return and the manufacturer is forced to play by those rules instead of fine print, distractions and obstacles.
My kids love those devices but I insist they buy them for themselves with their money. Knowing they are very likely to lose of break them,they can pay, choose their own investment, and behave like they will have to use more money if they don’t care for them.
Cool tech though and I hope you have a better experience with the new ones
Is it for only the return period or the complete warranty period of 1 year ?
Depends on the item I think? All I know is I tried to do the nice thing with a headset buying it locally and it didn't go well. Bought the extended warranty so I could return it no questions asked and it failed after 6 months. The store tells me that the 30 defect warranty is over and the extended warranty doesn't kick in til the manufacturers warranty expires. I spent 2 months wrestling with Razer answering the same questions repeatedly to finally get them to charge me for shipping back to them so they could test it over another month and send me a new one if it did in fact prove to be defective. Then they would charge me for repairs and shipping back.
I said screw it, bought another brand, and returned it a year after a year.
For those things, gotta buy where the warranty is easiest unfortunately.
I get the frustrations , after some time you just give up and go for new ones. And finding the one with easiest warranty is not easy - they promise while selling, but then service is pathetic.

I am also using one from Boat only but I do not have any problem after replacing the defective piece they sent at first . My purchase was form the flipkat so I contacted them and get the product replaced.
After replacement It working fine and its more then two year I am using the same. But I ma not a frequent user, mostly during the travel or I used during watching movies on TV.
That's nice to hear, may be because of infrequent use.
I have used boat earbuds and I had to get it replaced twice in a year. Their customer support is good but this is a question on reliability. I use Samsung U level band and never visited service centre as there's no problem at all.
Boat earbuds are good but we can't expect extraordinary however a good economical alternative.
The boy had a Samsung smart watch and it stopped working. The service center asked 16k to repair, where as the price of new is 10k 😀

I also have had a hate em, but use em relationship with my earphones/buds over the years. they always seem to break down, so i just get the cheapo ones and then have a backup for it..
May be that's a good trick.

You can get a decent pair that's affordable. Premium earbuds are so expensive, but dont really justified the difference in usability !
The truth is that in this regard there are many headphones and they adapt to different groups of people.
This is one of the best earbuds. Most especially when it has noise cancellation. This is definitely greayy
