Have I ever told you I’m completely insane about pizza? Jajaja, sorry for starting this post so aggressively, but I genuinely felt the need to say it out loud. I’m lucky enough to live relatively close to one of the restaurants with the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. And trust me, that statement alone could start a civil war where I live. Near Valencia, Venezuela, in a small city called San Diego, not everybody agrees with me. But hey, this is my post, and I have every right to say exactly how I feel.
So yes, as the title says, this is basically a review about Peluso’s, a place where pizza is treated with the respect it deserves. Still, these lines are not really about their pizza this time around, but about two dishes from their menu that I recently got to try: a Caesar salad and a “Miami” burger. Literally, that’s the burger’s name. And honestly, I need to admit something to you all: there’s no better surprise than the one that arrives after you underestimate someone or something.

Peluso’s already had my full trust. I’ve eaten there many times before, and from my personal standards of what good pizza should taste like, I have nothing but praise for them. But because of some stomach discomfort I’d been dealing with recently, I decided to skip the pizza and order the Caesar salad instead. I expected something small, light, maybe forgettable. Nothing huge. Then the waitress brought the plate to my table and I just froze for a second. The smell alone was incredible. The chicken had this perfectly crispy texture, the lettuce tasted ridiculously fresh and crunchy, and that dressing... dear God. Absolutely unreal.
Describing pleasure isn’t always easy. But if you’ve made it this far into the post, then you probably love food just as much as I do, and honestly, I respect you deeply for that. Going back to the experience itself: the AC temperature was perfect, the lighting felt cozy without being pretentious, the tables were spotless, the staff treated us wonderfully, the prices were genuinely fair, and the whole bill ended up being around 22 USD. Sharing the night with the man I love made everything even better too. If you know, you know.

I think experiences like this remind you that going beyond the obvious can completely reshape your opinion about places you thought you already knew. According to my boyfriend, the Miami burger with baked potatoes was absolutely flawless. Bacon, gouda cheese, caramelized onions, tomato, lettuce, crispy chicken, and honey mustard all blending together in a way that somehow made perfect sense. And yes, I can personally confirm that because of course I stole a bite from his dinner. If you happen to live anywhere nearby and you’re reading this, take this as your sign to go there. Seriously. You won’t regret it. God, just remembering the taste of that dressing is enough to make my mouth water again. So yes, no pizza this time, but an unexpectedly delicious combination of gourmet burger and Caesar salad instead. Pure pleasure in every single bite.
