Sunday with friends and river, enjoying nature in "relax" mode, Mendoza, Argentina

Hello my dear hivers from all over the ecosystem and especially Family & friends! I hope you are having a wonderful day. Today I will take you to the river at the playita of Luján de Cuyo, a natural area only 30 minutes away from the city that I have come to visit after several years of being "inaugurated".

It is a bit paradoxical for me to say that a natural area was "inaugurated", isn't it? But it is literally so, because although it is the area of the foothills, the municipality created some interesting access roads that allow access to the river, park the car and even find a place with shade (in the area there are no trees, only bushes).

At some point before this was slightly "urbanized", I remember driving up and down a trail that had been created by El Paso de los autos. At the time I had a 2007 Ford Fiesta, and I remember the times that car accompanied me on my adventures down to the river with my friends. Today, there is an asphalt road and then comes the whole natural area.

Domingo de amigas y río, disfrutando de la naturaleza en modo “relax”, Mendoza, Argentina

Hola mis queridos hivers de todo el ecosistema y en especial de Family & friends! Espero que estén teniendo un día maravilloso. Hoy me los llevaré al río de la playita de Luján de Cuyo, un área natural a tan solo 30 minutos de la ciudad que he venido a conocer después de varios años de haberse “inaugurado”.

Es un poco paradójico que diga que un área natural se “inauguró”, ¿verdad? Pero es así literalmente, debido a que aunque es la zona de la precordillera, la municipalidad creó unas interesantes vías de acceso que permiten acceder al río, estacionar el auto e incluso buscar un lugar con sombra (en la zona no hay árboles, solo arbustos).

En algún momento antes de que esto se “urbanizara” levemente, recuerdo haber ido manejando y haber bajado por una huella que se había creado por El Paso de los autos. En ese momento yo tenía un Ford Fiesta del 2007, y recuerdo las veces que me acompañó aquel automóvil en mis aventuras bajando al río con mis amigos. Hoy, hay una calle asfaltada y luego viene toda la zona natural.

The "little beach”

Many of us laughed a lot when it started to be called this way, because Mendoza is in the most continental area of the country and in what is known as the "arid diagonal" in Argentina, so there is no trace of a beach around here. We only have some artificial dams and some natural rivers that are decreasing their flow over the years, affected by climate change and global warming.

However, this name has become popular and this place gets the attention of many Mendocinos and tourists who come in summer to overcome the high temperatures, or go to this place to escape for a moment from the city.

The little beach of Lujan, as I mentioned, has sought to keep the environment as natural as possible, and among the additions is this paved ramp, a small office to collect parking, parking, chemical toilets and a helipad. I thought it was a good idea to place a heliport there, since it is an area with a high seismic risk, so this could be an evacuation route in case of emergency, or for the arrival of professionals.

Muchos nos reímos bastante cuando se le empezó a llamar así, pues Mendoza está en la zona más continental del país y en lo que se conoce como “diagonal árida” en Argentina, por lo que no hay ni rastros de que haya una playa por aquí. Solo tenemos algunos diques artificiales y algunos ríos naturales que van disminuyendo su caudal con El Paso de los años, afectados por el Cambio Climático y por el calentamiento global.

Sin embargo, este nombre se hizo popular y esta salida se lleva la atención de muchos Mendocinos y turistas que se acercan en verano para sobrellevar las altas temperaturas, o bien van a este espacio para escaparse por un momento de la ciudad.

La playita de Luján, como les comentaba, ha buscado mantener al entorno lo más natural posible, y entre los agregados está esta rampa pavimentada, una pequeña oficina para cobrar el estacionamiento, el estacionamiento, unos baños químicos y un helipuerto. Me pareció bastante bien colocar un helipuerto allí, ya que es un área con riesgo sísmico alto, por lo que esta podría ser una vía de evacuación en caso de emergencia, o de llegada de profesionales.

Sunday at the “little beach”

We spent a beautiful day with some friends, enjoying the sun of the last days of winter. As spring approaches, the cold is not felt so much and the sun tends to embrace us with its warmth.

The river had ample flow for the time of year, which is quite positive, and we were able to connect with its sound and rhythm, while watching some heifers grazing.

We took the opportunity to meditate and practice some Yoga. My friends are doing Ashtanga, so they asked me some details about posture alignment, which I was happy to answer.

We spent several hours chatting, and some mates that would last 40 minutes turned into an outing of about 4 hours.

Pasamos un día hermoso con unas amigas, disfrutando del sol de los últimos días de invierno. Al acercarse la primavera, el frío no se siente tanto y el sol tiende a abrazar con su calor.

El río tenía un caudal amplio para la época del año en la que estamos, lo cual es bastante positivo, y pudimos conectarnos con su sonido y su ritmo, al tiempo que contemplamos a unas vaquillas pastar.

Aprovechamos para meditar y practicar un poco de Yoga. Mis amigas están haciendo Ashtanga, así que me preguntaron algunos detalles sobre alineación de posturas, que encantada les respondí.

Pasamos varias horas charlando, y unos mates que durarían 40 minutos se convirtieron en una salida de unas 4 horas.

The “Parador”

When we were on our way back, one of the girls had the idea to follow the gathering with a few beers. Although I decided a few weeks ago to stop drinking alcohol, I thought it would be good to stay flexible and share a glass of beer with my friends.

So, we continued on our way to a "parador", where there were different bars. Here a "parador" is just a beer patio style area where one can sit in a very relaxed way to enjoy a meal or something to drink.

So we stayed there until almost sunset, enjoying delicious craft beer IPA, red and black (at the end we each had two "pints"); and we also shared beautiful and quite philosophical chats.

Cuando estábamos volviendo, a una de las chicas se le ocurrió seguir la juntada con unas cervezas. Aunque hace unas semanas decidí dejar de tomar alcohol, creí que sería bueno mantenerme flexible y compartir un vaso de cerveza con mis amigas.

De esta manera, seguimos camino a un “parador”, en donde habían diferentes bares. Aquí un “parador” es justamente un área estilo patio cervecero en donde uno puede sentarse de manera muy relajada a disfrutar de una comida o de algo para tomar.

Así que allí nos quedamos hasta casi el atardecer, disfrutando de rica cerveza artesanal IPA, roja y negra (al final cada una tomó dos “pintas”); y también compartimos hermosas charlas bastante filosóficas.

I love to meet friends who are opening themselves to new possibilities as in this case Yoga, I like people who expand and go beyond their own structures, I think it's a generation that moves and that makes them keep growing. When I get together with people like that, I feel that the vibration of the group rises as well. That happened that Sunday.

Me encanta coincidir con amigas que están abriéndose a nuevas posibilidades como en este caso el Yoga, me gusta la gente que se expande y que va más allá de sus propias estructuras, creo que es genere que se mueve y eso las hace permanecer creciendo. Al juntarme con personas así, siento que la vibración del grupo se eleva también. Eso sucedió aquel domingo.
