I have a bird again - My first day with Solymocska, my male Barbary falcon (2023.07.19)

Most of you probably know that I had a female Harris's hawk in Hungary, and how much I loved her. I am very grateful and very happy to write that I have a bird again. This time a male barbary falcon in Spain. They shipped the falcon yesterday (on 2023.07.18), and he arrived today morning.

Solymocska is a nickname for sólyom (falcon) in Hungarian.

My male barbary falcon is parent reared. This means that I am the first human, who spend a longer time with him. I will tame him.

I fed him in the afternoon. Not from my hands yet. I put the meat down, and he ate it.

Soon I will post more photos.

Hey that’s kinda cool! Is it like a pet or are you able to train it and have it help you live in the wild?

He is rather like a family member to me. I do not train him to hunt.

Wow that's awesome it cool to have such Harris hawk, I guess you have much time to spend with him inorder to be more friendly. I will love to see more pictures or post on your new pets.

I have the entire day. I spend the entire day with him. I very much love him. I take him with me everywhere.

Did you not learn your lesson the first time out?? You need to look after yourself before you get a pet my friend. That is the first rule in life. You will have the same problem sourcing accommodation with another bird on your shoulder. Barcelona is a different ball game than Tenerife. Sorry if this is negative but it means well.

I have accomodation. The nature. And I chosen this on Tenerife. I lived in a cave and in a tent too. Currently I live in the nature. I sleep on a blanket, and I very much enjoy it. No rent, no bills (except the mobile internet), no stress.
