Come On Ollie, Get Your Feet Wet! An Oystercatcher Takes the Dare ๐ฆ๐
Hello Hello to all Hivians, Hivers and indeed any bird lovers that are reading this.
Some of my favourite posts to write on Hive are the feathered friends posts, especially as the rewards go to buying their food in the park.
I had some business up in Aberdeen last month, and you might remember my I found gold on the beach! post about a goldfinch... well there was another bird there who is the subject for todays post!
Can you see him on the beach!

There are certain birds who seem to have absolutely no interest in doing what you want them to do.
Meet... Ollie Oystercatcher!
I spotted Ollie wandering along the beach recently, looking very smart in his black-and-white outfit with that enormous bright orange bill.
He was doing what oystercatchers do best.
Walking... Stopping... Looking suspiciously at the sand... Walking some more.
And generally behaving as though the entire beach belonged to him.
Which, to be fair, it probably does.

Go On Ollie... I Dare You!
The tide was coming in and Ollie was standing right beside the water.
So naturally I started giving him encouragement.
"Go on then, Ollie..."

Dipping his toes into the water ....

Go on I said. you scaredy cat!

"Get your feet wet!"
He looked at the water.
He looked at me.
He looked at the water again.
I swore he said to me ...
"You first, mate."

Some contemplation occured ...

Eventually though...
HE WENT IN!

Look at him!
One little leg disappearing into the North Sea.
Then another.
A proper paddle.
I was rather impressed.
"There you go Ollie! It's lovely!"
Ollie appeared unconvinced.

"woah Nellie" he cried...
"IT'S TOO FLUFFING COLD" ...
And with that he turned back lol

When I was a kid we had a chittery bite...
It is was a wee treat after swimming ...
After his dip he needed a chittery bite!

Tasty main course!!!

After dinner, bravado crept in, and back he went ...

Will he or won't he?

Hehe I hope you enjoyed our wee story with

This post though, is an entry for this week's Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 284 hosted by the wonderful @nelinoeva in the fantastically fun Feathered Friends community on Hive

And I shall pick this one for the entry

Well what can I say, there was only really one contender this week. The bird in question is an oystercatcher after all, so here he is catching something, a wee worm maybe?
What do you think? Was that your favourite, or don't you give a fluff?

What a wonderful capture of the oystercatcher standing against the rugged Aberdeen coastline; it is truly heartening to see your dedication to supporting these feathered friends.
You have been tipped with 50 Ecency POINTS for your valid entry!
You are so very welcome and thank you :)
You really had fun watching the bird hunt๐. Sometimes, experiences at the beach brings excitement and funny times. I haven't visited any beach; just hoping the one day I will.
Yeah the birds are fun, if you watch them, you will always find a story. Beaches are great at any time of the year. I have been to a few in your country when I worked there.
The truth is, it's a very elegant little bird, with its long beak and slender legs, almost like those of a heron. Nice entryโI wish you the best of luck in the contest. Best regards.
