A Fallen Swallow Chick

Greetings, my friend, and blessings to all! I want to tell you that a few days ago I found a frightened baby swallow in the garden, right under a coconut palm; most likely, while trying to fly, it fell out of its nest, and now its fate was uncertain, since it was impossible for it to return to the nest because of the height of the palm tree.
It was lucky that my cat or dog didn’t find it first; when I picked it up off the ground, I noticed it still had some feathers yet to grow, and at that moment I didn’t know what to do with it. 😱😫🥹. My dog noticed it, but just wanted to sniff it, so I decided to give it some water; at first it seemed restless, but after a while it calmed down and I could see it relaxing; poor thing, it must have been calling for help for quite a while.

I left him on a high floor, worried that the cat might notice him, while I thought about what to do, until it occurred to me to put him in some holes in the walls, where birds like this usually hide. If his family didn’t find him, maybe another bird of the same species would help him; the truth is, I have no idea how these birds behave in situations like this.

When I put it in the hole, I felt reassured because it was high up and cozy, and also because I sat nearby for several minutes and could hear its song and watch as the swallows fluttered about and responded in the same way. After a few minutes, my brother called out to me in alarm: he’d found another bird in the garden in the exact same spot; I thought it might be a little brother, but my mother told me it was too much of a coincidence—and she was right; I went to check, and the little bird I’d put in the hollow had disappeared; I was surprised because it was quite far away; nature is wise—I suppose it was hoping its parents would rescue it from there, so it moved, but with a cat lurking around, I couldn’t leave it there.

I put it back in the hole and heard it still chirping. Later, when the sun went down, I saw other birds approaching the hole. I couldn’t keep watching it; the next day, there was nothing there anymore 😊. I’m not sure if it survived, but I did the best I could.

I hope the parents of the little swallow took care of them. When I was small, I had a little swallow that I found on the street. We fed him with mosquitoes and flies until it got big enough to fly away.
And a few years ago, two little swallows fell from the nest in our old home, so I also wanted to help them and get them back to the nest, but it was the time when their parents called them out to learn to fly. Unfortunately, we had to go on a whole day trip and couldn't be there and control the cat... but I hope that the little one from your garden made it safe 🤞
What lovely memories from your childhood. I thought about feeding him, but since the cat is such a good hunter, I decided to help him this way instead. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed—I think it’ll work out. @mipiano 😉🥰

Awww, we know u really did ur best for the poor baby, I just hope the mother bird got him and not a lurking cat.🥺🌟💚🩷 And thank you for hiding her away though at first it resisted and come back on the same spot. The birdie really found an awesome hooman right there 🥰
🥹😊😙🥰 Thank you, my beautiful friend @ruffatotmeee
What a sweet little birdie! You're so lucky it ended up in your care and you were able to save it. In a situation like that, our nerves can get the best of us, especially when we have puppies and kittens at home. Hugs! 🫠
Gracias ❤️ 🫠

You did the best, the baby birds happened to fall and should be put high and uou found the best solution. Hope it is all right.
And how are you? The news about the earthquake in Venezuela are all over.
Fortunately, thank God, my family and friends are safe.
The earthquake was terrible and lasted a long time; nothing happened in my city, but it did in nearby ones.
In the capital and neighboring states, the situation is devastating. Thank you very much for keeping us in your thoughts.
Thanks God you are OK. Take care!
