Turkey wandering through the tall grass

During this time of year we hear distant gobbles from these birds and sometimes we get lucky enough to see them. They tend to come out near the edge of the woodline, but sometimes they come out further and into the fields. In that case I saw one and got my camera out to get some pictures.

This is a big one, and it was just slowly walking through the fields not really caring what is around. Probably has some big talons on it for protection..lol

It started to rain, we can see the water drops in the picture.

I hope to see more, this is probably just the start for the season.

Last year we saw families of them along with their poults.

It kept walking further, I think it noticed me.

As it went seems it had no cares for me at all.

Its always cool seeing them up close. Well as close as a wild turkey will let it get from me.

The rain was starting to pick up at this point.

Eventually it made its way across the field and went into the bushes.

Good afternoon, dear friend @solominer

How great that you were able to photograph them before the rain fell more heavily. It's incredible to have a visit from wild turkeys.

Beautiful photographs. I appreciate you sharing this adventure.

Have a wonderful weekend.

I'm scared of domesticated Turkey's and with good reason to..

They're the most unreasonable of all poultry 😂😭

Claws, beaks even hard wings...

They aren't really picky at what they'll use and traumatize you😭😂😂

Beautiful specimen you captured!
Here in my country, they're no longer found in the wild; they're only found in the homes of specific breeders.

Nice photos! Turkey's always make me laugh. Around here they always seem to make their way into the oddest places.

We came home one day to a baby bird in a cage. It was a wild turkey. We named her Dinner, but she never was. She would play with the kids, they would run and jump as far as they could and she would run and fly, landing where they landed. She was a good pet, but one night a bobcat got her.

Oh that is a cool story, sounds like it was a nice pet. Such a shame a bobcat got it.
