Bald Eagle

This is a Bald Eagle that I saw at the zoo; its about as close as I have ever been to one. They are fairly common around Calgary, but I only ever see them soaring high in the sky. They always struck me as having this very distinguished look to them, their appearance is almost like an authority figure, so its not hard to see why America has such a reverence for this bird and what it stands for.

I hope I can find a spot to see some in the wild up close. I know there are some islands in the Bow River that they are known to frequent, so I will have to add this to my bucket list.
