ABI - Anonima Bottega Italiana Bar accepting HBD as Payment powered by Distriator
Hey Hey Hivians,
during our stay in Split, Croatia for Hivefest 2024 we heard a lot of great conferences, talks and discussions in the first days, made friends and even got a coffee bar to accept our beloved HBD token as a means of payment which I will discuss in more detail in this article.
How it all began
When we, @detlev @louis88 @solarwarrior and I were in Split a few days before Hivefest 2024, we had a look around the city and Detlev found a small café in the morning. The Anomima Bottega Italiana short ABI is a small, inconspicuous place where you can enjoy delicious crossaints, Italian coffee and talk to the bar manager about decentralization.
When Detlev sent us the location, we naturally went straight there and talked to the bar manager about HIVE.
A short time later, we explained to him that he could accept the HBD stablecoin as a means of payment by creating his company as a Hive account and registering his company, ABI - Anonima Bottega Italiana, via @distriator and accepting HBD in the future.
@louis88 created an invite to HIVE through the @keychain app and within 30 seconds we successfully got @abisplit to HIVE.
ABI Split accepts HBD
After we left the first conference day behind us and we had our talks in the middle of Split at Diocletian's Palace on day 2, @starkerz came on stage to mention ABI Split - and here began the exciting journey from the palace to ABI - Anonima Bottega Italiana.
45 Hivians wants to pay with HBD
I was afraid that there might be 10 - 15 people who would like to pay for a coffee with HBD. After @starkerz's speech, an incredible 45 Hivefest users walked to the ABI Anonima Bottega Italiana.
Of course, the bar manager was not immediately prepared for 45 people, so he quickly organized his employee and served the thirsty Hivefest users in no time at all. In addition to coffee, beer and other delicacies, it quickly became clear that the bar manager needed a quick way to charge all Hivefest users with HBD. This is where @keychain Store and @v4vapp came in, integrating Bitcoin Lightning directly into HBD as a means of payment. It couldn't be easier!
Pay with HBD
After the Hivefest users had received their first drinks and snacks, it was time to pay. A total of 45 users used their HBD as a means of payment to pay their bill.
After the first instant payments, it was clear that the ABI Anonima Bottega Italiana bar in Split, Croatia had fully arrived in the Hive ecosystem. Easy payment with HBD made Hivefest 2024 even more incredible.

Even the developer of @keychain @stoodkev was amazed at how easy it was to pay with HBD in his app :). Of course, @asgarth and @yozen also wanted to pay their bill with HBD.
This is how a happy Bar Manager looks like when he got onboarded to HIVE!
After everyone had paid their bills, there was another surprise. Everyone who used the @distriator app in the Keychain app was able to submit a small review with 2 pictures and some description and thus get 10 - 35% CASHBACK. These were automatically credited when the review was submitted in the app. So the more often you ordered and reviewed something from @abisplit ABI Anonima Bottega Italiana, the higher the cashback. Sensational idea!
On my first visit, I received 0.552 HBD as cashback directly for my review.
The next day, I received an incredible 3.559 HBD as cashback automatically.
Summary
Not only the Hivefest 2024 in Split was a totally great experience, the possibility to pay with HBD in a restaurant, bar or possibly soon various other things and on top of that to receive cashback for a review is fantastic. I'm really pleased that half of the Hivefest participants took part in this project and I hope there will be many more locations where you can pay with HBD.
