Encuentro con una fascinante oruga 🐛 / Encounter with a fascinating caterpillar 🐛
Greetings hivers, especially those who like insects and all those bugs that most run away when they see them 🤣🤣. Every time I go to La Estación park (one of the two parks in my city), I have interesting encounters with animals and insects. This time the protagonist was a caterpillar 🐛.
Caterpillars are insect larvae, to be more exact, Lepidoptera, known to everyone as butterflies 🦋. They look like worms but unlike them, caterpillars have legs, six pair of which are true and five pairs of false legs or pseudolegs, their bodies are made up of several segments and they usually have very striking colors to warn of their toxicity or camouflage colors to protect them go unnoticed between the foliage and the ground and thus deceive predators.

I was walking through the park when I saw this friend on the edge of the cement paths that are in the park so that people don't step on the green areas, something that by the way isn't done much because there is almost no grass 🥴, there are many trees and vegetation but grass, no hahaha 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️. Well, it seemed to me that this caterpillar was in danger of being crushed so I took her with a stick and put her away from there at the foot of a tree, but not before taking some photos of her hehehe.

Searching the Internet and guided by photos, this caterpillar has an almost 90% resemblance to the caterpillar of the night butterfly Periphoba arcaei, known as the Bunny Butterfly or Rabbit Moth, although I could be wrong. Its distribution habitat is between Mexico and Colombia so she probably belongs to this species.

I was fascinated by her size and her pastel-colored body combined perfectly with all those small spines of intense phosphorescent yellow that were mostly concentrated towards the head and upper trunk. She moved slowly with great elegance.

At first I thought the head was on the side where the antennas are but it turns out that's not the case hahaha 🤷🏻♀️, one way to tell is because the head is where the actual legs are.

This little girl is as beautiful as she is dangerous, if you like insects you want to take her in your hands but you know that the price to pay will be very high 🥴😬🤣, a single touch of those funny antennae or one of those thorns that have the color of joy they will be enough to realize that the only one who will be happy in the end will be the caterpillar hahaha. Nature is not only wise, she's also considerate of others because she gives you signs that you must respect, thorns and bright colors mean one thing, DON'T TOUCH ME 🤚🏻⚠️⛔.

This beautiful caterpillar has surely already turned into a big butterfly 🐛✨🦋. It was very interesting to be able to observe her in detail and see once again how nature works so perfectly regardless of the size of her creations. In fact, when you like insects you realize that the smaller they are, the more fascinating 😍.

I learned a lesson not to touch caterpillars with "furry" bits when I was young.
It was very painful.
😬🥴 oh, 😵, I'm sorry for you, I have no doubt that you learned your lesson 🤣🤣 🤷🏻♀️
Yes, i also learned that there isnt much your parents can do while they are driving & you are screaming in the back of the car 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤷🏻♀️
