Cantar en el Idilio 🎸 (es/en)

Al llegar a la Habana por allá por febrero de este año, la primera semana porsupuesto carecíamos de tener lugares para presentar nuestra música y cobrar por ello, es lógico, estábamos empezando y sabíamos que no íbamos a hacer la excepción. Por lo que decidimos buscar trabajo de mesero, fregador de plato, portero, contar de hacer un dinero para poder sobrevivir a esta cruda Habana.

Después de ver varias opciones de trabajo a las cuales tuvimos que decir que no, por problemas de horarios, llegamos a un restaurante que lleva por nombre "Idilio" ubicado en el Parque G, cerca de la estatua del Libertador de América Simón Bolívar. Allí llegamos con la misma tónica de buscar trabajo en lo que tuvieran disponible, para nuestra sorpresa, necesitaban músicos para que los extranjeros que allí asistían, pudieran disfrutar de su comida y de música tradicional cubana.

Hecha además a guitarra y voz, por dos jóvenes, cosa que a la dueña del lugar le vino como anillo al dedo. Pues hace tiempo buscaba algo así y que le fuera rentable además. Desde entonces cantamos allí cada noche, haciendo sopa que se dice en la calle, conociendo otras culturas pues el material humano foráneo es mejor recibido que el cubano, debe ser por los precios tan elevados lejos del alcance de un obrero cualquiera.

Para poder cantar allí tuvimos que salirnos de nuestro género musical y adentrarnos en la música tradicional cubana, autores como Polo Montañes, Compay Segundo, Matamoros, Pablo Milanés, Leoni Torres, ahora forman parte inseparable de nuestro repertorio, hemos aprendido a querer y disfrutar los clásicos de la música cubana.

Allí la canción más popular es la Guantanamera dónde los extranjeros aprovechan para bailar con el pie izquierdo, El cuarto de Tula es otra de las piezas destacadas con mucha aceptación. También aprovechamos y hacemos canciones de nuestra autoría y tratamos de que se lleven un pedazo de nuestras canciones en sus móviles.

El show del Idilio para nada somos nosotros ni nuestra música, nosotros solo amenizamos, allí el verdadero show son los cocineros, el chef, que están a la vista de los comensales, las murumacas con los sartenes, la candela de pronto.

Las especies para los olores es sin dudas todo un espectáculo que enamora al comensal, además del equipo de trabajo que bailan, cantan y hacen bulla con nuestras canciones, haciendo más divertido todo el evento. Por otra parte estar al lado de los cocineros también lleva consigo ver todos los platos de muy cerca al punto de saborearlos.

Situación que se pone más difícil los días en los que tenemos hambre porque no nos dió tiempo comer, es un gustazo ver uno y otro plato con olores y presencia sin igual, entre marisco, pastas, queso, pulpos, masas de cerdos, pizzas cuatro estaciones, son platos todos increíblemente que reaniman el paladar, el olfato y hasta la misma vida.

Sin dudas es un lugar que nos ha acogido y que nos a aportado mucho desde todos los puntos de vista, tanto musical, como cultural, como de hacer nuevas amistades, como de rendimiento, es un lugar que amerita la pena también ir como cliente. Así que los esperamos cada noche acá en el Idilio .

When we arrived in Havana back in February of this year, the first week of course we did not have places to present our music and charge for it, it is logical, we were just starting and we knew we were not going to make the exception. So we decided to look for a job as a waiter, dishwasher, doorman, trying to make some money to be able to survive in this crude Havana.

After seeing several job options to which we had to say no, due to scheduling problems, we arrived at a restaurant called "Idilio" located in Parque G, near the statue of the Liberator of America Simon Bolivar. There, we arrived with the same tone of looking for work in whatever they had available, to our surprise, they needed musicians so that the foreigners who attended there, could enjoy their food and traditional Cuban music.

The music was also played with guitar and voice by two young people, something that the owner of the place did like a glove. She had been looking for something like this for a long time and it was also profitable. Since then we sing there every night, making soup as they say in the street, getting to know other cultures because the foreign human material is better received than the Cuban, it must be because of the high prices far from the reach of any worker.

To be able to sing there we had to leave our musical genre and go into traditional Cuban music, authors like Polo Montañes, Compay Segundo, Matamoros, Pablo Milanés, Leoni Torres, are now an inseparable part of our repertoire, we have learned to love and enjoy the classics of Cuban music.
