En mi post anterior les conté sobre el primer día de nuestro Safari Fotográfico...algunos fotógrafos decidieron no regresar a casa y quedarse a dormir en las áreas de la Finquita del Arte. El programa del evento anunciaba un segundo día para fotografía de naturaleza y entre los fotógrafos asistentes hubo varios que preferían este tema para sus fotos.

De hecho, hubo quien encontró allí un microuniverso muy rico en imágenes ....

La tropa se despereza y junto a nuevos fotógrafos llegados de La Habana, partimos en busca de las orillas del río que bordea la ciudad. Con el objetivo de llegar al ojito de agua, una especie de manantial que brota de su orilla.

Guiados por Pedro, un joven pintor e hijo de mi colega Mendiola, llegamos al lugar donde el agua brota y se une al río... algo curioso fue ver muchos peces muy cerca de la orilla, que en vez de alejarse por miedo, se acercaban en manadas a la propia orilla.

Después de este encuentro con el manantial, el río y los peces, emprendimos el camino de regreso a Finquita del Arte. Por el camino también aprendimos más sobre las características de las construcciones, paisajes y habitantes de este pueblo costero llamado Playa Baracoa.

Por la tarde decidimos hacer birding en los alrededores de la Finquita, zonas de vegetación virgen y también con una laguna que funcionó hace siglos como salina.

Ya podíamos ver la laguna y comprobar que había muchas aves en la zona. Michel nos advirtió que no hiciéramos ruido para no espantarlas. Él conoce por experiencia la gran variedad de aves que viven allí. Según he oído, en este lugar se han encontrado especies raras e incluso nuevas?

Llegar a la laguna e incluso cruzarla a pie fue una experiencia única. Estuvimos atentos a las aves y sacamos fotos del curioso paisaje mientras caminábamos peligrosamente sobre la presa que antaño separaba el agua del mar que debía evaporarse para obtener la sal.

Mi colega Mendiola fue en nuestra busca y nos trajo de vuelta a La Finquita, por los senderos del bosque donde observamos una gran variedad de árboles, lagartijas y mariposas...

Terminó la aventura del domingo y también nuestro Safari Fotográfico. Un par de días compartiendo visiones y experiencias entre fotógrafos profesionales y aficionados que buscaron con sensibilidad captar la vida latente en este pueblo que amanece cada día a orillas del Mar Caribe.

The troop wakes up and together with new photographers who arrived from Havana, we set out in search of the banks of the river that borders the city. With the objective of reaching the little eye of water, a kind of spring that springs from its shore.

Guided by Pedro, a young painter and son of my colleague Mendiola, we reached the place where the water springs and joins the river... something curious was to see many fish very close to the shore, which instead of moving away out of fear, approached in herds to the shore itself.

After this encounter with the spring, the river and the fish, we started our way back to Finquita del Arte. Along the way we also learned more about the characteristics of the buildings, landscapes and inhabitants of this coastal town called Playa Baracoa.

In the afternoon we decided to do birding in the area around the Finquita, areas of virgin vegetation and also with a lagoon that functioned centuries ago as a salt mine.

When we could already see the lagoon and see that many birds were in the area. Michel warned us to be quiet so as not to scare them away. He knows from experience the great variety of birds that live there. According to what I have heard, rare and even new species have been found in this place?

Reaching the lagoon and even walking across it was a unique experience. We were on the lookout for birds, and took pictures of the curious landscape while walking dangerously over the dam that once separated the sea water that had to evaporate to obtain the salt.

My colleague Mendiola went in search of us and brought us back to La Finquita, through the paths of the forest where we observed a great variety of trees, lizards and butterflies...

Sunday's adventure is over and so is our Photo Safari. A couple of days sharing visions and experiences between professional and amateur photographers who sought with sensitivity to capture the latent life in this town that dawns every day on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.
