We got the best news last night

The weight of the world was lifted off our shoulders

break.png

First off, I want to thank everyone that stopped by my post yesterday and sent my family their well wishes. It really meant a lot that so many people care.

It all started on the 27th when my wife went in for an appointment for her leg and we were told that she had a tumor on it. The very next day was my wife's birthday and her and I tried putting on a happy face for our kids because it was the first time that just the four of us could spend time together again.

We ended up telling them about the tumor because we didn't want to keep anything from them. Despite the news, my wife's birthday was actually really great. We just spent good quality time together as a family and held onto each other tighter than we used to.

Then we spent the entire weekend actually processing what this news meant for our family. It was a very depressing weekend where we spent the majority of time in our own heads. It was the type of situation where things could go very badly very quickly and we began to spiral.

I envisioned a future without my best friend and it was just lonely and sad. I didn't want to have a future like that, but then I was thinking about how it would affect my kids to lose their mom and if I took my life, it would destroy them. Then I started to get very angry at how the world works because it seems like it is the greatest people on earth that get cancer. My wife has done so much for so many people and being in a world without her light would just be so dark and sad.

We had an appointment with a specialist last night and he had the best news. While my wife still does have a tumor in her leg, the chances of it becoming cancerous is pretty much nonexistent. The pain she has in her leg and knee is from cartilage in her knee that is damaged and she wasn't giving it the rest that it needed, so it was tightening the muscles and ligaments up and down her leg causing so much more pain.

She got a shot in her knee that is supposed to reduce the inflammation and help to loosen things up so she can walk normally again and get the range of motion back. We are going to have to watch her activity very closely to make sure that she doesn't overdo it and injure her knee again, so running is no longer an option and she will need to be more careful with lifting weights now as well.

Its been about 18 hours since the shot and she says that her leg is feeling a lot better. Hopefully it will continue to reduce in size and loosen up. If it doesn't, then the doctor is going to refer us to a surgeon to remove it, but he says that there isn't anything to really worry about with the tumor itself. He said that the only thing that can really happen with it would be that over time, it can weaken the bone and she can break her femur, which sounds horrible, but the chances are miniscule.

On my way home from the appointment, it was the middle of rush hour and traffic was horrible. Normally I would have hated driving in that, but it was actually nice to just cruise home at a slow speed and just appreciate everything. Life can change in an instant. Grab your loved ones and hold them close. I am lucky enough to have found my soul mate and I never want to be without her by my side.

That's it, man! I've been thinking about this since yesterday and I'm so happy she's okay. This might be the best news I've gotten today. Thank you so much for sharing it. She might be better off just staying home and watching movies with you guys instead of lifting weights these days. You can order take out or you can do the cooking. Have a great day man!

We won't ever stop lifting weights. I ended up buying a Peloton Bike that we can use to work out our legs and get some good cardio in.

I hope this helps man, of course I don't want you to stop lifting weights, I just meant to take a break for a while.

So happy to hear that everything is okay man, that must have been so scary!

It's nice to hear as well that you enjoyed what would have been a frustrating drive, but, instead it turned into a relaxing and reflective experience!

The illnesses of our loved ones are more worrisome than our own. Luckily you sought a second opinion, I think some doctors are fatalistic and sentence patients to death with their diagnoses.
I'm glad it's not that serious what your wife has but it's something you can't neglect, health is the most precious commodity we have.
Keep a positive mind, and keep exercising, it increases good health!

I have chills reading this man! I'm so happy to hear that it's not as bad as you were expecting, and I hope that your wife makes a quick recovery!

Hearing your perspective and thoughts on what could have been such a dark matter, but instead you turned into a positive experience is inspiring! I may not be going through the same things, but your strength, and most importantly the fact that you shared your feelings, is truly an inspiration to me to open up more in my personal life!

I'm so glad to have found Hive, and to be a part of this wonderful community of amazing people! I thank you for sharing this wonderful news, brother, and you have restored the hope that I have recently lost in my own circumstances! I will continue to pray for you both! Enjoy the time with your family 💚

Thanks man. I am so happy with how things have turned out. We have been doing a lot of work to get to where we are and it seemed like it was about to be stolen away from us.

I am extremely happy for you man! I hope that all continues to go well and while I do understand that aspect, you can't lose the love that you share with one another and your children. No matter what happens in the future, nothing can take that away from you and your family!

And I think moving forward, that's the truly important lesson. Be thankful and grateful for what you have and who you share your life with, every single moment you have to share, because you never know what could happen tomorrow!

I know how scared you must have been and may still be, but, the important part is it pulled you all closer together through such a dark time! Thankfully in your circumstances, things are looking up and will hopefully continue to get better! 💚

Stay strong brother!

I am so happy for your family! Coming to terms with mortality is an awakening for sure. I certainly became more empathetic and caring after I had an encounter myself. Life is too short to not shower those near you with love 🙏 😍 The good thing is you guys already have an insanely awesome photo album together!

I’ve been in many life or death situations myself, but nothing that really put a family member in danger, so this was a real big wake up call.

Yea it really hits differently when it's family, we lost my mother 5 years ago to breast cancer. My sister and I never got along until we came together to support her over her last decade. I honestly never talked to my sister as an adult until I was smacked with the realization that life was too short. We both worked together to build a relationship that would help our family continue to thrive. I love my sister more than ever and it continues because of my mother's unconditional love for us both.

We just celebrated my niece's 2nd Halloween together last night and I know my mother is out there somewhere enjoying the fun she has inspired 😍

That’s great news… let’s hope the swelling goes down even more and so does do the pain.
I can imagine what a relief this must be.
Take care… all of you.
Best wishes to your wife 🤗🥰

Wes, your family has gone through A LOT. Wow... how much "bad luck" can a family have? I'm happy to hear that your family has given good news bro. Hopefully, your wife will let her leg rest enough so it can heal properly! I'm walking with 2 fucked-up feet for almost a year now, but with patience, I experience zero pain now in one of them right now (took 12 months of rest(!)).
