To Auxerre: the City of Cadet Roussel (Part 15)

We enter the Cathedral of Saint-Etienne. The upper church was rebuilt from the 13th century under the episcopate of Guillaume de Seignelay. Construction, initiated with the choir and then the façade, continued until the 16th century with the completion of the North tower.

Nous pénétrons dans la cathédrale Saint-Etienne. L'église haute fut reconstruite à partir du XIII^ème siècle sous l'épiscopat de Guillaume de Seignelay. La construction, entamée par le chœur puis la façade, se poursuivra jusqu'au XVI^ème siècle avec l'achèvement de la tour Nord.

This organ was built in the 19^th century by the famous French organ-building family, the Oberthürs. It is renowned for its rich and powerful sound, as well as its artistic design.
