Exploring Laoshe Teahouse in Beijing

Hey dear community, I hope you all have a great start to the new weekend and you are doing well so far! Today I would like to share an experience with you which I made in Beijing and I am happy if you like my contribution.

In China, tea is of great importance and a huge culture has developed around it, which is associated with over thousands of years of history and in addition to its use as a healing drink, an important symbolic meaning has also developed. Each variety has its own and usually very complex aroma which unfolds through the long process of fermentation and to enjoy tea is here a separate ritual which is celebrated with different ceremonies and spread is this kind of cult all over the country. If people are in China, they will see many who also walk around with the teapot in everyday life and in different areas of the country there are numerous customs or legends about tea and according to one legend the loose leaves of tea are said to have fallen into water a few thousand years ago, but there are also numerous other legends when it comes to the origin and in some legends tea is even said to be of divine origin. While I was in Beijing it was clear to me that I would visit traditional tea house, but this is not so easy at first because of the large selection and in the end, I decided to go to the Laoshe teahouse which has such a good reputation that it's also known in other parts of the country. The name can be traced back to a well-known writer who bore the name Lao She and had dealt with tea a lot during his life and he became known, among other things, for writing the play teahouse.

In the house there were many artifacts or traces that are dedicated to this personality and it's inside like a small museum with different themes that illuminate the history of tea in China and for over 30 years the place attracts thousands of visitors every year. The house is especially known for the ceremonies that take place here daily which also included shows like live music and also during my visit, I could admire how two women in traditional clothes create sounds with the help of teapots. The whole ambience is very traditional and the whole place gives the impression that visitors have just arrived in ancient China and from the outside I would not have expected how diverse the furnishings are. For a fee I was able to take a place and drink as much tea as I wanted and among them were of course some famous ones like Yasmin, white or green tea and according to mood the varieties can also be enriched with various other ingredients and poured over with water. Anyone who should be in the city and wants to get to know this culture should not miss a visit here and in addition to enjoy the traditional varieties, visitors can look forward to many insights into the culture or history.
