Symbolism and Mythology of Fog
Good day dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you are all well! In my new post, I decided to go into mythology and hope you can learn something new about this important topic.
Here are some pictures that I already took some time ago and represent a morning landscape in the fog and from a symbolic point of view it is often used with mysticism, loneliness or disorientation and it is a popular natural phenomenon which has been used by artists for centuries. Fog is often exactly the right basis for poets or weiters and is also often associated with occultism and often the chaos in Greek mythology, which is also considered the primal state of the earth, is associated with fog and it is also often associated with the Greek word nephele, which means cloud. There are numerous legends about fog that have arisen about it and often it is said in fairy tales that beings such as dwarfs or other magical creatures are behind the creation and it is not without reason associated with mysticism and the fog has a special significance in Norse mythology where it was associated with the world Niflheim which is also considered the coldest or darkest place and is also often called the world of the fog. Fog is also often associated with the goddess of the underworld Hel which had the ability to control it and often areas full of fog were associated with landscapes that cannot be cultivated and where people live unhappy. There are some legends that say that elves hide in morning fog and there are also fairy tales that you could find a pot full of silver hidden in the fog, but you should make sure that you don't get lost and lose your orientation. By the way, fog makes it difficult not only for people to orient themselves and often birds or other animals also have problems finding their way back and on high seas fog was often particularly feared and is associated with legends with different events and appears again and again in old traditions of different cultures.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about mythology! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
