Remote Sedge (Carex remota)

Hey dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you are all well and have a nice start to the weekend! Today I would like to introduce you to an interesting plant and hope you can expand your knowledge.

In my pictures you can see an interesting type of grass which is probably known under the common name Remote Sedge or scientifically Carex remota and I think it also looks beautiful how water drops accumulate on the stems which offer the pictures an additional effect. It is very interesting from an ecological point of view and is an important source of food for numerous species of caterpillars and it is widespread in Europe, Asia or Africa. In terms of growth, it is relatively small and rarely gets higher than 30 cm and is also hardy and thrives best in shady or semi-shaded locations because too much UV rays damage the plant. In summer around June, flowers form which produce seeds which are widened by wind or water and, except for a suitable location, it does not requires much care and is considered extremely robust and an enrichment for gardens. In addition, it multiplies via the rhizomes and the genus of Carex includes over 2000 different species and some of them can also be interesting from a medical point of view and can contain interesting active ingredients. Here it should always be mentioned that in case of illness, you should always ask your doctor or pharmacist for the right medicine!

Whenever raindrops or dewdrops fall like this, all these things become more beautiful.

I also think the raindrop definitely gives the pictures their very own flair!
