Good day dear Hive Community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you are all well! In this post, I would like to present some pictures of the moon and go into mythology.

Today I had the opportunity to photograph a wonderful waxing moon and I was lucky to be able to capture the dark side of the moon well, which is also called earthlight and Leonardo da Vinci (1452 - 1519) already addressed this effect. At that time, Da Vinci even made some drawings of this phenomenon, created by the sunlight which is reflected by the earth and hits the unlit side of the moon and by the fact that the moon is illuminated, it creates a further reflection which reaches the earth again. In this article I would like to discuss the moon goddess Luna from Roman mythology, which is also known as the equivalent of Selene from Greek mythology and in ancient Rome some temples were built in her honor and the most famous of them was probably on Aventine hill, on which a festival was celebrated in her honor once a year in March. In general, a cult has emerged around her which was highly appreciated in some circles and her attributes include a crescent moon, a crown and often she is also depicted with a chariot which was pulled by cattles. Luna has also shaped the Italian language and Luna means as much as moon and she is also associated with the weekday Monday and is also known as the sister of the goddess of dawn Aurora and her parents are probably the titans Theia and Hyperion. Luna is also often associated with magic as a goddess and she was also regarded as the protective goddess of the sea and by seafarers and she was especially revered for giving travelers a light at night so that they reach their destination safely. The old alchemists also associated silver with the moon and in alchemist symbolism this metal is often associated with the crescent and the goddess Luna was also revered by the ancient alchemists and she has also played an important role in art hsitory and has been used as a motif by artists since ancient times.

When the moon is full, it looks more beautiful at night and the sky also looks more beautiful because of it.
