The common name of this mushroom is Turkey tail and scientifically the fungus is called Trametes versicolor. The rather common Turkey tail fungus is widespread in North America, Europe and Asia and has been known to mankind for a long time.

It is a medicinal mushroom and it is assumed that it was already used as a natural medicine in ancient times. Trametes versicolour is also recognised and very popular in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), the areas of application are diverse, so Turkey tail can have a positive effect on the immune system, but it is also used against cancer. A popular way of using it is to dry the mushroom, for example in the air or in a dehydrator, and then make powder.

The North American Indians also used it as an aid to preserve food. It was mixed together with other foods to better preserve them. Trametes versicolor is usually found in forests on dead wood and it does not require any special location conditions. It is not easy to confuse with other mushrooms, which is an advantage when collecting it.

Many thanks for watching and I hope you like my new contribution! I captured the pictures with my camera Sony Alpha 6000 and 55-210 mm lens!

with technology people is going far way from nature and all mushrooms will be not used even for food, not for cure or preserves, so its nice to still see some information about such things.

I fully agree with that, it depends on how people use the technology. It is important to keep this old knowledge. Glad to hear your feedback and wish you a nice day @leonchikov

Glad you like my Post! I also find it amazing every time to see how many wonders are in nature. Especially in the medical field, it's just great that nature offers so many healing possibilities. Of course, you always have to inform yourself extensively, to pay attention to the correct application. It is very diverse for what some mushrooms can be used, I have also already written about a mushroom from which ink was extracted. Maybe we are talking about the same mushroom? https://hive.blog/photography/@elevator09/i-found-a-shaggy-mane-mushroom
