Sculpture of Hephaestus
Hey dear Hive friends, I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you are well and you had a day that was full of positive experiences! In this post I would like to bring a work of art a little closer and hope you like it and can learn something new.
Here you can see pictures of a work of art that has been made of stone and is decorated with a bronze casting to better represent metal art. Represented is the Greek god of blacksmiths and the fire Hephaestus which has been handmade and I find the work looks very authentic and brings out the details and properties well. In keeping with the art of blacksmithing, the artist has depicted Hephaestus with an anvil, hammer and one of his works, armor. In one of my past contributions, I have already introduced this God in more detail and those who are interested will find my contribution here.
According to legends, Hephaestus operated a forge on the island of Lemnos, which is located on the northern Aegean and he had a forge in the interior of a volcano known as Moschilos. People thought the activity of this volcano would be attributed to his work and when the volcano had erupted, Hephaestus was at work to create new objects for the other gods and the Cyclops were known as his helpers. The Roman equivalent of him is Vulcanus and here there is a similar legend that says that Vulcanus forged his works on the volcano etna in Sicily.
