Hey dear Hive community, first of all I would like to wish you all a good day which was hopefully full of positive experiences! Today I would like to go into the mythology and symbolism of an interesting plant and hope you can learn something new.

The plant is which can be seen here should be known by most people and they are known as tomatoes which are also scientifically called Solanum lycopersicum. Originally this plant comes from Central America and was brought in the 16th century to Europe and quickly enjoyed more and more popularity. Nowadays, it can be found pretty much everywhere in the world and there are estimates that there are between 5000-10000 different varieties.

Tomatoes are associated with the planet Jupiter as well as the zodiac sign Leo, Cancer and Sagittarius and are associated with the elements of fire and earth. When the plant came to Europe, it became known as a love apple and was used as an aphrodisiac, but it was also feared, which I would like to discuss below. In general, tomatoes are often associated with fertility, freedom, harmony, happiness and knowledge and from a spiritual point of view it is often associated with vitality and strength.

In their country of origin, the tomatoes were already very revered by the Aztecs and Maya and were already cultivated thousands of years ago. When tomatoes came to Europe, people were initially afraid of this vegetable and there were legends that people got sick after eating tomatoes and a legend says that if you eat tomatoes, the blood would turn into acid. Tomatoes had this reputation for a long time and nowadays people know about the healing properties of this vegetable well and I find it interesting how in history poisonous plants have proven to be edible in retrospect and vice versa.

Tomatoes are known to have a positive effect on the whole body and to strengthen the immune system. Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants and are great against free radicals and it can also have effects on the aging process and have a rejuvenating effect. Also interesting is that English scientists have developed a variety that is able to produce a lot of vitamin D. It is always important to mention that in case of illness you should ask your doctor about the right medicine!

Tomatoes are awesome! Funny how a fruit from central America became a staple of Italian cooking. Another interesting plant from the same region, peppers. The firsts peppers were found there too and were brought back to Europe, selectively bred and now there are hundreds of varieties. Thai Chili's now grow wild in Thailand everywhere even though they came from central America!

It is definitely very interesting to trace the origins of plants! Good topic that you address, wild growing varieties are also usually the more interesting ones anyway, of course the whole breeding varieties are not bad either, but if you focus only on the active ingredient components you know what you have. Great to have found a pepper friend too :) I wish you a nice day

At present there are organic and non-organic products, I think that this should not be the case, you even have to pay more for organic products, I understand that some plants have additions for transgenics, but I consider that they are not so healthy and unfortunately some people we have to eat this kind of food sometimes

Good topic that you address, what also is often the case that many plants have been genetically modified so much that certain active ingredients have been crossed out. Of course, it is still the best if you have the wild-growing original varieties. Thank you for your comment and have a great evening!
