The Broken Chair
This is another one place of significance in Geneva. The site of Broken Chair. It is basically a very big chair with one broken leg which is placed on the opposite side of the UN building. This chair was designed by a Swiss artist Daniel Berset and opened in 1997. This chair is designed to symbolize peace and also to remind us that what pain and suffering the world can go through with wars and specially the horrors of the landmines.
It is placed in front of the UN nation's building as that is where all the leaders from across the world come and this Chair serves as a reminder to them as an opposition to the land mines and cluster bombs and also that what disasters can be caused for the world. It is 10 meters high chair. When it was installed, many nations were motivated to sign the Ottawa Treaty on landmines. This treaty banned the production, stockpiling, transfer and use of anti-personnel mines. Though many nations did not sign this treaty, which is a sad part and it also shows that how we humans do not want to end wars and violence.
There are water fountains in that area. A very funny incident happened here. I was alone, so I asked one stranger to click my picture. I guess he was very fond of clicking picture He just did not stop, he asked me to give different poses and he would wait for that exact moment for the water to come up. I was telling him, it is enough and he would say no wait. Finally, I walked to him and told him Thank you and took back my phone :-) I have never come across any such photography enthusiastic person more then him.
That's a brief write up about the Chair
The Chair and the UN building together
After this I wanted to visit the Red Cross Museum, which is a 5 minutes' walk from this place. When I reached there, I got to know that the museum is closed. On Monday's they are closed. It was a big disappointment for me as I wanted to visit the museum. Anyways, hopefully next time.
There was another museum also on the way but even this was closed.
It was an interesting start of the day by visiting this place and getting to know things of the past. Every City has some historical monuments to visit and I like to explore them. Though this one happened after a long time. I missed it in my earlier visits.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

I guess the blockchain has some issue from last evening as some of the picture are not shown I post (only links are shown). But the good part is some are visible.
When I read the title I thought of art but was not aware it is related to anti war massage.
Thanks for sharing.
I guess it was a temporary issue. All pictures are seen now.
It is quite an interesting place to visit and learn about the history of it.
Amazing installation
Indeed
I was looking at the chair and was like, "this is pretty nice. I wonder if anyone has tried sitting on it." Then, I saw its actual size and I gasped.
At least the photo enthusiastic guy took some really good pictures.😆
You look lovely.🤗
They could have made a ladder going up, if someone wants to experience sitting up there :-)
Ohh yes, his enthusiasm went in my favor. You do not find such people very commonly :-)
It's an amazing artwork and I like the symbolic message behind it. It's indeed sad that not all nations are anti-war. Some are just hell bent on imposing their outdated ideologies by any means neccesary.
Lovely picture shots, the atmosphere looks welcoming :)
There are just few nations who are continuously wanting these wars to keep going on. If they stop their intervention most of these wars will end.
That chair is really mind-blowing. From the thumbnail, I thought it was just an random chair but now I am in awe. The idea behind the chair is a very thoughtful one and the architects that built it did an awesome job.
I guess we all meet photography enthusiasts at some points in my life. He took a very beautiful picture of you.
It looks a simple monument but the history behind it gives it all the meaning and makes it powerful
Haha
What kind of a chair is that. It is so tall and it looks very good that people could even stay under it
That's nice!
Such monuments make us understand that how much destruction we bring to the world because of ego and greed
Old history is remembered by looking at the chair. A war hurts us on life. Which we cannot even imagine.
