Oh wow this is a special place! so the horses get to wander around free? I suppose some people ride them for transportation and people put their cars away for a slower and more connected lifestyle. They are such powerful and docile creatures, it is joyful just to see them unpenned. I have horses less than 2 KM from where I am sitting and they roam in nice meadows with streams but seeing them in town would be amazing.
Shame about the loss of photos. Maybe you will just have to visit again!

We love the small town, and yes, the horses can go where they please. We have seen a horse being saddled up for a tourist to ride on it, but the townsfolk do not ride them. The town is small, and one can walk from the one end to the other. Powerful indeed, and muscled to the extreme, but they are very friendly critters. Maybe the owners of the horses fear that their horses will disappear if they set them free to walk around in the town.
We will certainly go back there in the near future.
