A night with Tolani Alli

When I saw this topic, I was really short of words, I was like who can I even call, who would be the celebrity? Would it be a male or a female, and I was like definitely, it has to be a female 🤭.

But just then I remembered that life is not just about enjoyment, before they got to where they are today, they must have worked hard one way or the other. So I decided to look for someone that would go in my line of obsession, line of joy.

Now, what what is that thing that gives me joy? Definitely photography; yes, photography. So wo is now the celebrated photographer? And then my mind got to one of the most celebrated female photographer in Nigeria and obviously abroad. I know that most of you already know I am talking about...

Am talking about no body else that Mrs Tolani Alli

Tolani Alli is a female African, she was blessed to have experience from two major continent, that's Africa and noth American. Originally from Oyo State, raised in Flint and Lagos, Nigeria, then grew up in Michigan, USA.

As we all know, and as for those that don't know, Tolani Alli is the official photographer for our Nigerian Vice President, known as Yemi Osibanjo. Isn't she a celebrity?.

She started her photography career when she was 18 after she was motivated by . She then asked her parent to get her her first camera as her birthday gift. (By the way, my birthday is coming up by the 7th of Aug. I'd also like a camera as a birthday gift 🤭👍).

She gave this quote when she was asked what she wanted to gain from this career,and she said something that is really motivating, not only to photographers but to all who has a goal to achieve. And I quote

"The drive is to always be better. I want to tell the world stories that will evoke emotion. I want people to laugh, cry and sing because that one shot- told them a million words."

"But I will never rest with that one shot. It will never be just one shot. No matter how good, how great, how spectacular it is, I will make the next one better. I will take the world on a journey that ends when I end. But in the end, I want my name to read; ‘Tolani Alli: The woman with the hat that changed the game’".

What a quote. This one really motivated me, making me push harder for more and more better shots after the other, no matter how good the last shot was, there should always be a better one.

So if I get the opportunity to have a dinner date with Tolani Alli, I will as her questions like...

• What made her become a photographer,even though it seems like her parent has money. Why photography out of every other career in this world that we are, What makes photography explicable?

I'd tell her that I have interest in photography, but I am restricted due to both finance and community, but never the less, I have taken some creative pictures, tho I take more of nature pictures, and also strategical pictures just like you. I was introduced to your Instagram page and by the time I got there, my mouth was just opened, I could not just help than to cover it with the aid of my hand 🤭.

I was moved, and challenged to do more. I know that I am still a mobile photographer, but I know that one day I will definitely get a camera and I'd use it for better, to make shots that will not just be called shots but a history and laughter creator to the past moments...

I'd let her comment me, (cause obviously, as a celebrity and a senior in photography, she's going to encourage and comment me) I'd let her advice me, and I will listen to everything, and if possible, I will even jot down every important things she has to say.

And if she asks me if I have anything to say or ask from her.

I will not ask her her money, she has worked hard to make it, me too, I want to make it like her and even more than her. So I will use that opportunity to ask her to be my personal photograph teacher. She might say it's not going to be possible, probably because she is always busy, but one thing I know for sure us that any star that wants another start to rise, most especially through them, will look for a way to make them rise. So I will ask her of the possibilities of making me better than I am.

I would hear and be very happy if she agree to teach me, but if otherwise, I'd just take the best advice from her. And if she gives me money, I'd be happy, if she gives her a camera, I'll burst, if she just gift me anything, I'll just be so happy...
