In the winter season, there is a sports festival and different schools participate in this sports festival. The best players of every school participate in these games and games of every level are played. The month of November is wonderful for sports because the Government of Punjab also organizes sports. It was the month of November and I was participating in the game at the tehsil level with my students. I took my team to compete in cricket, volleyball, high jump, long jump, 800 meter race and other races on behalf of my school. Among the most prominent games played were cricket, tug of war, javelin throw, high jump, long jump and double jump. Apart from this, the young children also showed their athletic achievements. The ground was full, but the games that were played in the morning were attended by a large number of children, but the games that were played after sunset or after noon were very few because when the children were out of school, they went home. They would leave and the excitement of the ground would fade, but the games would continue because it was important to finish each game on time.

If I talk about the games that took place this year, all the players showed excellent performance in all the games. My school teams won the tehsil level and then the district level competition. But what I liked the most about these games was that the children were very well prepared this year compared to last year. Especially in the cricket field, volleyball and hockey, tug-of-war, and javelin throw. In all these games, the children of each school showed excellent performance and the schools that were declared winners at the district level will now compete at the division level. The games that start at the division level continue until the end of January and February, but the middle class exams also start in the months of January and February, due to which these games are now being started after March. But those students who study from class VI to class VIII will participate in these games because the exams for classes IX and X will start in March and April. That is why the children of these classes whose exams will be board exams will not participate at the division level. But there is a separate passion in games. Every student has the desire to win and bring glory to their school. I also saw that whenever a team or student won, the PT master or trainer of that school would jump with great joy and everyone would congratulate him because it was his hard work that today his students are winning in the field of sports.

I want to tell you something about a game called tug-of-war. There was a semi-final and it was at the tehsil level. At the tehsil level, the three best tug-of-war teams reached the semi-finals. Not three but four teams reached the semi-finals. All four teams were very strong. The students who were part of this team had worked hard and trained for many months. The first semi-final was between Musa Khel and Government Jamia High School, Mianwali. When the tug-of-war competition took place, the students of Government Jamia High School won the first round. This was the same team that had defeated my team in the final at the tehsil level. This same team had defeated my team and qualified for the semi-finals at the district level. When Jamia High School competed with Musa Khel High School, Jamia School won the first round and then Musa Khel, Government School, won the second round. The third round was the final. Whoever won, qualified for the final at the district level. But there was a very tough competition and the team from Musakhel defeated the team from Jamia and won the semi-final of the tehsil level tug-of-war. Then there was a competition between Harnoli and Chapri schools. In this way, these competitions continued and these excellent competitions teach us that discipline, training and preparation in every respect are very important for winning in the fields. You can see in the pictures how enthusiastically the children are involved in the tug-of-war and they are praised and applauded everywhere.

Similarly, competitions were held for every game and many such students also emerged prominently from these competitions who will make their name in the sports fields in the future. You can see in the pictures that the spectators are also students and those participating in the games are also students. The age of all these students is between 16 and 17 years and we can also say that these were competitions between under-17 and under-17 students. Whenever we take the children to the fields for games, there is a strange madness and passion in the children. Children work hard for their victory and also for their school because these competitions are between schools and not between students. Whenever a team wins, the name of the school is also called in this victory. Thus, winning any competition at the district level is a great achievement. When the children lift the trophy and after lifting the trophy, they hand it over to their school teachers, the teachers also hold their heads proudly. It gets loud and then in the morning assembly when the children are told that their school teams have won at the district level, it is also a beautiful scene and a moment of joy. The people of the area whose school the children come from, also pay tribute to the teachers and students with joy and happiness and congratulate them. It is not just a game, but along with the game, it is also a name. Just as a player brings glory to his country, similarly, students bring glory to the names of their schools, colleges and institutions in the fields.

Apart from this, I have preserved the memories of other competitions like cricket, hockey, volleyball, race jump and all the other competitions that have taken place. I also have pictures. The pictures that I am sharing with you today are of the semi-finals of tug-of-war and the ones that you see in blue are the children who won the semi-finals in a very impressive way and defeated a team much stronger than themselves. These games were not just games, but the best players were also selected through these games. They were also selected because a person does not succeed by reading books alone, but students who perform well in the sports fields also make a name for themselves. In these games, we saw many students who were showing very good games and were giving very good performances, who were a little weak in education, and sometimes even such students were winning competitions in these games who considered education a little burden on themselves. I will also mention one of them, Sulaiman, about whom I have mentioned before. That student belongs to a poor family and he made a high jump of six centimeters at the district level in the high jump, which was a very big jump and the buzz of this jump started spreading everywhere. Similarly, in the tug-of-war competition, the students who won the semi-finals and finals, if their strength and effort are seen, they can also make a great team in the coming days. Apart from this, be it cricket or racing, there are many such students. There were scientists who showed very beautiful and excellent performance. I believe that children should also take interest in sports and should train children and participate in competitions so that they can improve their sports better because these sports and these fields will give them a name and recognition. Many people also come to watch sports in search of getting the best players and they can select these children in teams for their clubs, departments and institutions. Similarly, these are the sports fields and these are the events where new youth are prepared for sports and their abilities are tested.
