Walking through Caracas
From the first day I set foot in the city of Caracas, I realized that it was a unique urban environment, where modernity and history clash at every turn. Proof of this is that its buildings are truly unique, since here different styles coexist within the same blocks, often overlapping and creating a mixed environment that is never boring, as there are always interesting and challenging elements to discover.

This is how, at the end of last year, I arrived at the Foro Libertador, a place where the national pantheon is located and where, in recent years, the mausoleum of the Liberator Simón Bolívar would be built. it is a space that seeks to honor the greatness and historical deeds of our liberation processes. In short, it is a temple to the homeland, a sacred enclosure, and a unique space in the entire nation.

But at the same time, it is also a public space where thousands of people can walk back and forth every day without any problems. It is here where children can play and skate with complete freedom, but it is also an area where there is a great deal of respect, since beyond the patriotic buildings, there is an atmosphere dominated by honor and glory. Here, every citizen, regardless of their political ideologies, religious beliefs, or social class, discovers an ideal environment to look up at the sky and feel blessed to be walking on independent soil.

My intention was to visit the national cemetery and, of course, the mausoleum of the liberator, but unfortunately I arrived on a Tuesday, when the doors of these buildings are closed, as they are only open to the public from Wednesday onwards each week. I felt a little disappointed, but shortly afterwards I realized that I hadn't wasted my time, as the surroundings of this historic complex are incredible.

There is no doubt that this is a tourist attraction par excellence, where we can not only enjoy a panoramic view of the north of the city of Caracas, but also find a mausoleum of monumental proportions, whose exterior architecture is a perfect example of modernism, where each element is of the highest quality and at the same time each piece has a specific meaning.

The mausoleum resembles a ship's sail, pushed toward the horizon by the wind. Its white color reflects purity, and its metallic elements convey incredible strength. However, the most impressive aspect is the contrast that can be appreciated when viewed behind the old national pantheon, which dates back to the 19th century. I would venture to say that its exterior structure is a nod to the neo-baroque movement. This creates a truly unique scene in Venezuela and even in the world.

The complex is broadly divided into three different areas. The first, on the south side, is dominated by trees and the direct entrance to the pantheon, while the central axis features a kind of urban transition, which culminates in the north facade, where we find a more modern style and spaces dominated by metal and cement, from where we can observe the grandeur of the mountain and the characteristics of that sector of the city.

Broadly speaking, what seemed to be a failed outing ended up being a photographic walk full of good energy, where I discovered a little more about the greatness of this city. And where there is no doubt that the task remains to return and tell you all about the details hidden inside these historic buildings.
