Buildings and Streets

It had been a while since I’d taken any black-and-white photos—perhaps because work has kept me quite busy; the pace of life has led me to disconnect a bit from social media, and I haven’t had much free time to spare. But on every trip or outing, there’s always room to delight in the unique features of a setting that might seem quite ordinary, yet when viewed from a special perspective, can be striking.

Edificios y Calles

Tenía ratos sin tomar fotografías en blanco y negro, quizás porque el trabajo me ha tenido bastante ocupado; la dinámica de la vida me ha llevado a desconectarme un poco de las redes y el tiempo libre es algo que no me está sobrando. Pero en cada viaje o recorrido dado siempre habrá un espacio para deleitarnos con peculiaridades de un entorno que quizás sea bastante común, pero visto desde una perspectiva especial, puede resultar llamativo.

Personally, I like big cities—their buildings, their streets, and the atmosphere you find there. Perhaps this is because I come from a place that could be described as a small town, an area where buildings rarely exceed four stories and where everything seems a bit more monotonous.

En lo personal, me gustan las grandes ciudades, sus edificios, sus calles y el ambiente que se vive en ellas; quizás esto se debe a que yo vengo de un lugar que podría catalogarse como una ciudad pequeña, una zona en donde las construcciones no suelen superar los cuatro pisos y en donde todo parece un poco más monótono.

So on this occasion, as I walk through the streets of La Guaira, I take the opportunity to capture images of buildings that strike me as interesting, since each one has a unique shape, a detail that sets it apart from the rest, and a structure that stands out. At first, I thought the result would be a series of somewhat cold images, but I must confess that I found the outcome quite interesting, as I managed to capture the originality of each place.
Es así como en esta oportunidad, mientras camino por las calles de La Guaira, aprovecha para capturar imágenes de edificios que me parecen interesantes, ya que cada uno cuenta con una forma peculiar, un detalle que lo identifica del resto y una estructura que busca marcar la diferencia. Al principio pensé que el resultado sería una serie de imágenes un tanto frías, pero debo confesarles que el resultado me pareció bastante interesante, ya que capturé la originalidad de todo lugar.
