Among Streets, Buildings, and Silence

Just a week and a couple of days ago, I was walking through these streets, enjoying being back by the coast, thinking about how wonderful life had been to give me the chance to walk these streets again, hear the sound of the sea, and enjoy a city that had grown so incredibly. It was precisely this urban setting that gave me the chance to capture monochromatic images that reveal a modern yet welcoming side of the city.

Entre Calles, Edificios y Silencio

Hace tan solo una semana y un par de días yo me encontraba caminando por estas calles, disfrutando de reencontrarme con la costa, pensando en lo maravillosa que había sido la vida por darme la oportunidad de volver a pisar estas calles, el sonido del mar y disfrutar de una ciudad que había crecido de forma increíble. Era justo este entorno urbano el que me regalaba la oportunidad de capturar imágenes monocromáticas que nos presenta con un rostro moderno y acogedor.

During my walk, the streets were empty, silent, and peaceful—fantastic, since that was exactly what I needed to escape the stress of the capital, where life is filled with complexities, hustle and bustle, and problems. I spent a few days wandering these blocks of Caraballeda, dreaming of one day owning an apartment in this neighborhood so I could visit more often and enjoy the sea’s blessings.

Durante mi recorrido, las calles estaban vacías, silenciosas y tranquilas, fantástico, ya que era justo lo que necesitaba para alejarme del estrés de la capital, en donde se vive en medio de complejidades, ajetreos y problemas. Pasé unos días entre estas cuadras de Caraballeda, fantaseando con algún día tener un apartamento en esta zona, para de esta manera poder viajar con más frecuencia y disfrutar de las bondades del mar.

These images are more like a nostalgic memory, superimposed on a terrifying reality. Current circumstances are surely very different; pain is surely present on every corner, and the landscape has likely changed completely. This is how these images will remain in our memory—as a record of what was once a large and beautiful city, now drowning in a sea of tears, but one that I am certain will once again find the path to the greatness and peace it so richly deserves.

Estas imágenes que son más un recuerdo nostálgico, proyectado sobre una realidad aterradora. Las circunstancias actuales seguramente son muy distintas, el dolor seguramente está presente en cada esquina y el paisaje habría cambiado por completo, es así como estas imágenes quedarán para el recuerdo, para las crónicas de lo que era una ciudad grande y linda y que ahora atraviesa por un mar de lágrimas, pero de la cual estoy seguro que encontrará de nuevo el camino de grandeza y paz que tanto se merece.
